Anyone in Miami? Heading south for the winter...

Wondering if we have any members here in the Miami area.

I'll be riding the TET down at the end of the month, and would love to get an idea of who's around.
Maybe someone knows of some available garage space somewhere too?

Figured I'd bump this up... would love to touch base with any hospitable ADVers down south.
Garage or not, would be nice to some of you while I'm around!

We all lurk in the background until it dries up and cools off down here. Then we just have to find time off to ride. It's too wet and hot to do any off road stuff now. You get stuck in mud pits filled with water, sweat, and get eaten alive by vampire mosquitoes. Try the South Flatistan thread, there are a few of us around down here. The good riding is in southwest Fla, most everything is over developed on the east side of the state this far south. As far as garage space goes, I have a bunch of bikes so space is tight. If you need a place to work and/ or tools that's not a problem, I'm usually tinkering with something almost every day at some point.

Thanks for the info!
I'm still planning my trip through Florida. My current trail ends at the Gulf in the NW.
Sounds like I may want to avoid anything SW then, don't really feel like killing myself going solo on a massive bike.

What are the good months you guys are out ripping it up?
I'm planning to leave the bike down there, and come back down in re-visit it. I was hoping to return in March, but don't want to miss the good season for experiencing some of your trails.

Also, thanks for the offer on the work space. I'll definitely keep it in mind. May need to rivet a new chain at some point!

Usually by November its starts to stop raining. By the time the first cool front that comes through, the trails have had enough time to dry out. Just gotta keep your eye on the weather down here.

In the Panhandle and North/Central Fl the rallies start Oct/Nov, usually over by March. If you can't find garage space make sure you chain the bike to a telephone pole behind your house, motorcycles get stolen quite a bit.

Hmm, I'll look into this! Would be fun to make a pit stop at some kind of event after wrapping up the TET.

I'm only coming temporarily though, so no apartment to lock the bike behind.

I have had a few people offer their space, the only downside is I'd need to leave the key... Which no offense to those who have offers (I'm sure you can understand) but it does make me a bit nervous.

At this point it's looking like its either that or the You-Stor-it situation.

We shall see.

Let me guess, do you own a KLR

I think it's reasonable to leave the key, you need to get out of the city more often

Hah, that's true. Different way of thinking here.
I get it though, but if I could find somewhere to leave it (steering column unlocked) without leaving my only key, well that's the ideal situation.

Give me a shout if you are (do) (will) (whatever).
Always up for a ride, conversation, coffee, beer whichever.
