Your writing definitely hits home on many levels. I can totally sympathize with the feelings you were having. I've been a wet rag doll on my bike multiple times and quite often in those soggy circumstances, I could always hear my inner thoughts arguing.

You took on a very challenging ride and I commend you.

Many thanks for sharing your ride! The latest post breaks new ground ...."transcendent" comes to mind as your inner journey enters the narrative. Please put me on your book list!

You are one tough young woman. I know a lot of folks that would have looked for the nearest motel..
The way you can transfer your thoughts to the screen though,, that's a gift. Thanks for the latest chapter..

I think I will re-direct my Summer trip from AK to the desert west and maybe Mexico. I am still shivering from reading your descriptions.

Radian to AK

Made the almost same trip in July of 2011. It was not as cold but had plenty of rain and wet feet, yuck. Your report brought memories of the 2011 trip. The road between TOK and Anchorage was beautiful but wet cold and miserable. I also came back and stayed at Kathleen Lodge outside of Haines Junction. Took the ferry from Haines to Prince Rupert.
Glad you made it OK. I rode a 650 V-Strom without a hitch. ic

You know wet hands and cold ,well enough.
It's hard to spend the money sometimes , but, I have no regrets, none, after buying 2 things that made big changes for me. The first was a Grebring jacket liner and thermostat. Dial the heat that feels so sweet. The Nehru style neck is heated and that's the first place you feel the heat. Love that feeling.
The other thing was Spock gloves from Areostitch. Put them over your gloves and never have wet hands again. That's the ticket.
The heated jacket liner works in concert with the Spock gloves to keep your hands warm. By heating the blood in your arms, your now dry, hands stay much warmer.
Love the report, keep up the good work!

Thanks for a great story. :raabia

I admire your courage to face all the challenges of an Alaska trip on your own. Maybe that is the problem, you did not know better. So you went ahead and did something that everyone else thinks is crazy! But you sure have made it sound like a ton of fun!
