On the east side pretty much directly across from the hot springs. I've usually camped on the west side previously so this was a cool place to be. You get different views, especially at sunset/sunrise.

Nice report, I had breakfast with you MrDS in Fields on Saturday. (I was riding the yellow GS) Looked like the Alvord was way busy so I went to a different hot spring. No one there except some biting bugs, so much for a quite time. Wound up in Silver Lake for the evening. About eight o'clock the sprinklers came on, hosed the snot out of me. Around eleven they turned off then came back on at two, more hosing. Didn't get much sleep, need to find a better place to camp. Should have went to the Alvord, at least no sprinklers. Thirty four degrees in the morning, packed my bike and went to Fort Rock, twenty seven on the way. Guess summer is over. Thanks for the photos and story.
