I was the slowest of the group, but could get through. It was fun, but I imagine that with another year of rain and riding, the route is even rougher.

Hmm... wanna supply a track if a bigger bike crew wants to gather and ride it separately? Not sure I wanna trailer a bike up there.

Decisions, decisions...
Nope. The Dual Sport Loop is awesome. And for anyone that hasn't done it, you should.

I've put together an alternative for those of us who have done that loop several times now. It includes some of the same roads, but not necessarily in the same direction as the DSL.

As I said before, this isn't big bike "friendly." that doesn't mean it isn't doable by some riders on larger bikes.

I will put together a track file and roadbooks for anyone who wants it but that won't happen for a few days (or a week) as I have to return to real life tomorrow and deal with some of what that entails.

I won't make it to Cromag but you clowns (and Clown) have a great time. I wish I could try out the used Christini I bought on those Yankee trails.

Looking forward to the trails. This time I'll be on a bike with nobbies.

Not bike related, but it looks like these guys had fun and found Bernard General Store:

I'm looking at hauling up both my DRZ400 and KTM 950 Adventure. Maybe the dualsport route big bike style on Friday and GuyManBro's miles of fun on the DRZ for Saturday.

One of these days you are going to have to plan to be out here for it.

Hmmm....pics of that 950, 4' of defying gravity, into a mud pit would make for some good youtube.

Greetings all, I get lots of questions if there is still room. There is plenty of room, we have not even come close to the capacity of the facility, ever. We could be three times our size and still be comfortable there.

Don't be scared, you will have a good time. There is something for everyone.

I rode the 7mtns single track on the 950. I've been posting some of my helmet cam footage on that thread. I ripped the mt21 rear to shreds, and I thought I was being careful. I did leave the pressure pretty high after seeing that all the rocks down there are square and sharp. I'm sure that had a lot to due with the tearing.
I still did about 80 miles of single track and 1200 miles of tar on it last weekend (including a stop at Utica/Rome speedway).
I have been considering just taking the 950 to Cromag , but I don't know if I can survive two days of single track on that tank.

More about the dirty little bike route

Myself, ET-VT, and VTBeemer headed out at ~11am today. We made it approximately 80 miles of the route and called it off at 5:30pm. We took a leisurely lunch and that probably wasn't the best idea. In any case, today confirmed my suspicions that the route is pretty freakin' fantastic. It alternates between 5-15 miles of technical terrain and 5-15 miles of transit terrain. The technical parts are gnarly enough to keep the faster riders entertained but not so tough as to create undo danger to those pushing their comfort level.

I will reiterate, you NEED to have knobby tires and even more importantly, you need to carry water with you (more than a 16 oz bottle). I think VTBeemer will concur that and ADV-style jacket is a detriment on this ride. Off road gear or highly ventilated gear will be essential unless winter arrives early.

I won't hype the route anymore, but if ET-VT and VTBeemer want to share their thoughts, it might be more enlightening than my own opinions.

I took quite a bit of video of the technical stuff today so when I get home I'll whittle it down and post it up so people can decide for themselves if it looks "doable."
