Ok, he is starting 11th and what, some 16 1/2 mins behind Helder, with Helder off 2nd and Concalves to chase he will need his Red Bull wings to catch him, unless they all bunch of course which is not impossible out there

Don't forget Helder has wings too

One thing for sure though is that it is still a race, there will be no let up until Sat afternoon!

What if he starts thinking about Coma's injury and the possibility of having one himself?
Right now he has a big advantage over Coma for this year's Dakar and that's the main goal.

He'll want to win but maybe not make up 11 minutes in a single day by pushing to the max.

I guess we'll have to wait 12 hours to see.

Team players...

We've been focussed on the HRC crew coming with ambitions to topple the KTM throne... but the "quiet achievers" in all this have got to be the Speedbrain Husqvarna outfit...

Just now the Husky mushers are in 3rd (Barreda) 4th (Goncalves) and 11th (Fish) overall

as opposed to HRC with 1st (Helder) 8th (Zanol) and 10th (Sam)

KTM factory have 2nd (Cyril) and 9th (Juan)

whereas Bordone (coKTMugh) Ferrari are on the scoreboard with a 5th (Chaleco) and 14th (Botturi) in the overall team tally...

Yamaha have a 6th (verhoeven) 7th (Pain) and 18th (Fretigne) to their credit

As far as the hunting for tomorrow (SS4) goes...

Husky are off in pos. 1, 4 & 8

HRC in pos 2, 6 & 10

Bordone Ferrari in pos 3 & 7

Yamaha official pilots in pos 5, 9 & 12

KTM factory in pos 11 & 17 (been a good while since team orange have been relegated to the second wave)

What a great mix (and depth) this shows...

Roll on Day 4...

Indeed tomorrow should be interesting Troy. Despres starting on a 30 second interval...having to pass slower riders, dust, etc....Helder in first place but starting 2 minutes back from leader ( )...it is very refreshing to see so many teams mixing it up near the top...hope this trend continues in January

For the first time the 450 rule really seems to be paying off

Wicked Top Speeds

Could someone compare what Helders top speed was at the same spot that Paulo was doing 157km/h? It's gonna be interesting to see if the new HRC motor can pull top speeds like the Ktms and Husky......

Cheers!!
