There is a '79 R100S that lives close to me in the Orange paint scheme ... and even closer to HWY 78. His name is Scott and he's not on ADV. He's a Professor of Renaissance Literature at Georgia State ... interesting character. But that's the only Orange one I know around here.

Can't say what color the grips are, but I bet we are talking about the same bike.

As this thread grows I envision hundreds of airheads being dragged out of garage piles so the riders can travel about then check this thread for official notice.
I see airheads regularly if not weekly in Albuquerque when I ride. At least one g/s courier bike from New York City resides in my shop. |

. I don't count them, looked like they had been there for a while. The scarcety of regular service airheads out east, and especially in the Maritimes would explain the interest I seem to generate when stopped. On the part of other BMW riders it's equal parts disbelief, amazement or distain.

San Francisco Bay
The San Francisco Bay Area has a ton of airheads around. I've been taking a break from working and going on long bicycle rides around San Francisco and usually see a few airheads per day. Within 2 hours you've also got Ted Porter's, San Jose BMW, and BoxerMetal our there in Chico.
I've been meaning to start a blog with all the BMW's I see around here. Today I saw an 81 R100CS with an "S" fairing. Was lovely and didn't take a picture. I did however take a picture of this one-of-a-kind sidecar rig that was parked down the street from me. Check it out: ![]()

Wow, this is a really useless post, but I don't see that many airheads near my house. Today (12/23/12) around 12:30, leaving the QT at Briarcliff Rd/Clifton, heading south on N. Highland. Couldn't get a good look -- Green bonneville, r90s maybe, some other airhead, and an oilhead gs bringing up the rear. I was the tundra swerving in front of you trying to get a pic.
