R1150GSA Front Wheel Query
Hi all,
I have had a search but with no luck, my bike is a 2004 R1150GSA with NO ABS, the calipers are BMW, not BREMBO marked. I am looking a picking up a used front wheel. The vendor says the wheel is ONLY for R1150GS bikes with Integral ABS not ABS2, no further info in add. It has the blue purple rim I am after, and appart from that looks identical to mine. Would I have any trouble fitting this wheel to my bike (non ABS)? I figure there must be two types of ABS fitted to the R1150GS and they are just making sure of that in the description. Am I OK with it? are the brake disc mounts, disc offsets and axel arrangements the same? Thanks for any advice. K

Just trying to be helpful ...
Karl, hi!
I know this might not be exactly what you're looking for, for an answer, but it seems that the brake rotors mount the same on each of the ABS systems, but one rotor is thinner. If you are only buying the wheels, I think you should be okay. I'm only regurgitating what I read in this thread. I'm certain those people might be able to help as well. http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=830395 Am I making sense? Liz |

Howdy neighbour
The BMW fisch may shed some light on the question http://www.maxbmwmotorcycles.com/fic...1&rnd=08102012. If yo have the vin of the doner bike ( and yours) you can check if theyre the same part number I replaced the front hub on my 2003 GSA no ABS with a hub from a doner 200x with ABS without giving the issue much thought ......and I'm looking for a set of rotors

The earlier wheel will have mounting lugs for the ABS ring. The later wheels don't have them as the abs ring is different and mounted onto the same lugs as the discs.
Apart from that no difference and the wheels are interchangable. Using the different abs rings can throw up the abs warning lights at higher speeds, which means no abs. But seeing as your bike doesn't have ABS you won't have any problems using any of the GS wheels, even from an 1100GS.

Thanks all for helping me out,
Yes, this wheel has lugs in between the disc mounting lugs. OK,... so appart from where the ABS ring mounts they are interchangeable. Good news. K
