R100RT Fly-n-Ride
I've been on the lookout for a local mono-shock RT for a couple of years, but nothing just right turned up. I've got a week off coming up so I expanded my search nationwide. Lots of RT's for sale on craigslist
![]() Next I trimmed the list down to nice looking bikes with a good price and cross referenced that list with cheap flights out of Florida. The list was down to 3 bikes, Wisconsin, Tennessee, and Pennsylvania. Contacted all 3, but only got one reply (some of the adds were over 30 days old). So I'm off to Pennsylvania next week to pick up my new ride. One question... This is the first time I've bought an out-of-state bike. I want to try and get a temporary tag. Do I go to my local DMV (Florida) before I buy the bike or get one in the sellers state (Pennsylvania)? I assume the process is similar regardless of the states involved. I'd rather not use the sellers current tag, not sure he'd let me. Nor do I really want to use a tag from one of my current bikes, "no officer, it's really my bike, I swear." ![]() My plan to to head south to Leeds, AL and spend the weekend at the Barber Vintage Festival. If you've never been, this is a "bucket list" place you have to see. The museum alone is worth the trip and the vintage event is the icing on top of the cake. I'll try to take some pictures and add a short ride report to this thread when I get back home.

Your DMV will issue you a temp/transport tag.

I hope so, even if I don't own the bike/have a title? The seller called his DVM and it's $50 for a temp tag, ouch! It's only $7.50 here in FL. subagon screwed with this post 10-05-2012 at 02:57 PM |

From the FL DMV (really the county tax collectors office here in Florida)...
If you are a Florida resident and purchased a vehicle through a private sale, you cannot apply for a temporary tag. You and the current owner need to go to the local tax collector's office and transfer the title to your name and purchase registration in your name. I'll go the the tax collectors office on Monday and maybe get lucky.
