Wow. Fun place to ride! Lots of variety. That Jeep/ATV place at the end reminded me of the strip mine where I rode growing up.
And then, at the end, I see that you were riding all that with a bucket saddle! Man, I could not do that. Props!

Just accept its going to happen at first, and seek to limit the damage for now.
Seriously this thread made me all excited and squirmy to watch, but you handled the pulled stud excellently, and the timing chain, terrific. Solid teammate!

Honestly, I just want a little bling...and god dang this muffler is a heavy bitch. I got it cheap and thought I'd give it a try, while monitoring my fuel mileage, flat spots, and overall performance. The new one total will weigh 75% less. Gonna try to hit some sand this week, about 3 hours south of me. I am not sure what to expect at SB?

I just did some weighing:
Stock muffler is 8.8lbs Sito is 7.3 supertrapp is 2.4 but you'd also need a mid-pipe. so maybe you'd get another pound from that. I don't think you'd get much lighter than 4 pounds for the whole thing. That's about 5 pounds.

the Sito is crap, rust quickly and the foot peg mount needs reinforcing, but suspect Jenna won't want another Sito. Not sure what options are out there for a lighter muffler that doesn't come with a tub of Va$eline..
The Pro Duro muffler on mine is very nice quality, stainless steel, not sure of the weight though. Got lucky on Fleebay for about $250, was made to fit a R100GS. Don't think they are available anymore. The mid pipe is large. ![]() Probably have better luck buying a generic muffler and having a midpipe made. The was lots of talk about the stock muffler preforming the best. But who knows with the mukunis??

I'd be REALLY surprised if the ST's muffler were that light. The thing is pretty solid stainless steel. Either way ... I did a much of measuring and the midpipe from a Kawasaki ZX-10R is exactly the right side for the output of the G/S or GS collector, and the rear collector/crossover from an 85-87 R100/80 bike.
Mated perfectly, and it now weighs ~5 pounds, where my old muffler weighed ~ 9. It's pretty quiet, no acceleration flat spots, and looks right.
