I rode twenty hours in freezing cold to meet my friends for our two day B'day party. I found out my GPS has no maps for Bolivia, negotiated La Paz for three hours, in evening rush hour, without benefit of Map or GPS to find a place near the street they were on, finally found a place with secure parking, checked in, opened my email, only to find out they decided to leave for Sucre, 500kms away, on tonight's bus and hoped I could make it.?????? WTF?

I refer back to my (Nuked Post) post about people that don't do what they say they are going to do.

Disappointed to say the least. I would have skipped Bolivia all together and ridden through Chile , except for the Party, planned since Christmas, that no one else came to or more accurately stayed for

It could be worse. I am in a big city I have never been to before. I have a decent room with WiFI and secure parking and free breakfast and it's $25/night. I'm still going to stay here my planned three nights and then head for Chile.

Bolivia is having issues selling gas to foreigners. People that say that's not true, are leading charmed lives. My friend Mauro, from Brazil, that I met in Lima tried 13 gas stations in La Paz yesterday and no one would sell him gas.

I have enough to get out of Bolivia and that's my plan when I leave La Paz.

Bolivia is not my choice place. I rode 20 hours from Cusco to have a pre-planned B'thday only to find out all the other participants jumped on a bus tonight for Sucre, 500 kms away and "hoped" I would make it. So I plan to look around for a couple days then blast off for Chile by the shortest possible route.

In the meantime i had a wonderful ride along the shores of Lake Titicaca today and I'll post some pictures tomorrow.

It was so cold in my room in Puno last night, even with four big heavy blankets on the bed and my long underwear on I could still feel the cold through the mattress. This is Summer in SA? I don't want to see Winter.

My plan is to get the hell down out of this elevation and ride the Chilean Coast south. I hate cold, and Winter with an absolute passion. I grew up in Saint John NB and I know crappy weather when I see it. I am really looking ahead to Southern Florida. I think when I leave here you'll see me really turn the "Jets on" to get to Buenos Aries and a flight to Miami.

I'm sure it's a case of them not realizing the difficulties of motorcycle travel but having said that, we had a plan and i came a long way to make it work. Hope you can make it?
