Can anybody tell me anything about this bike?

Not going to buy it, just curious. I had never seen those fairings.

The fairings were made by Wixom Brothers. The lower section is very rare-This is the second one I've ever seen.

It is pimped out with all of the period correct accessories. Wixom fairing, lowers and trunk, Enduro bags and who now what else we can't see. There is probably $2000.00 in accessories on it. The minimum you will need to drop the oil pan and clean the slingers and do the normal service stuff.

I have one too, Wixom on a '68 R50US, oddly, this bike also resides in New Jersey.

I thought the engine had to come apart to clean /2 slingers... can it be done dropping the pan?

No.

13K? IF it was a R69S and IF it just had its slingers cleaned by someone that knows what they are doing and IF it was in real good shape, sure.

Let's give him a call, do a group buy!

Here's the deal: seller (attorney as I recall) mentioned, all original & matching, from a collection, still titled in PO's name, not currently registered but ridden regularly, slinger & "full" svc performed @ 5k mi ago, though no record of such, 3rd owner-maybe...

Did not get the sense there was to be a price negotiation.

As an editorial comment, seller left me with the impression he is pretty much a dickhead.

FWIW.

In case you haven't figured it out yet, the top portion of the fairing is mounted to the forks and the bottom portion is mounted to the frame. In operation the top part turns with the handle bars and the bottom portion goes with the rest of the bike. I've always thought it was a really neat idea but I have no idea what this is like in practice.

A lot of my friends and riding buddies had /2s in the old days, I had a /6. The R69s could take me in the corners but I would pass them on the straight away. The R60 was slower.

I think it's ruffly 4 or 5K over priced. But not really being in tune with current prices I might be off. It seems the experts say it's over priced too.

I too have a set like this, my panniers are different, they are Wixom, just different. Mine fit a US style fork. They were on my 1969 R69US I purchased from the original owner. He had it all installed at the dealer when the machine was new. Kinda Buck Rogers lookin' for me, I took it all off and made it a solo. Yeah, a /2 LT.......good description!

For some reason, I really dig this fairing without the screen.... If someone has one FS, let me know!

Say, is that you in the photo?

Without a windscreen you are likely to get bugs in your boobs.

Ummm... no, but Gwendolyn does look a lot like a couple of my Exes.

Funny story here on "you know you're a biker..."

I have never seen another '51 R51/3 in person other than pictures and a few yourtube videos. Well, nothing is ever in HD and then I found (CAUTION NSFW LINK) this (CAUTION NSFW LINK)

I had to put this on my big screen and went through the video pausing it on the items I needed to see (air filter, controls...) I really said out loud... "Damn it, just show the freaking bike!"

Then, I thought about what I said and just laughed at myself.
