Dirk, I can't believe they sent you back to Europe to get that visa! You just have to love twisted governmental rules, eh? It is a tribute to you that you did not just quit the journey right there in disgust. I am excitedly awaiting the next episode in this segment that I have taken to calling "Chasing Algeria."

![]() And riding to Alicante means another 1000 kms ... But what shall I do? Seems as if this is the only solution. And I'm far from being pessimistic! Cheers Dirk |

Hello Dirk
Been enjoy your report and especially your photo
Your pictures are amazing, so vivid, so real the color and the contrast is just Seemly amazing. I can only wish I have a fraction of your talent. Keep up the good work and safe travel. Good luck with your visa status. Let me know how can I purchase a book from you. I would love to share the story and pictures to family and friends. Mishap story of a picture
Ok, here's the little story of that picture: As you know I often ride alone and take the pics with the help of a tripod and a timer. That means for this picture that I've set up the camera on the edge of the canyon, started the timer and rode down into the valley. When I was about to ride into position (where I am in this picture) I saw the tripod with the camera ... and a car stopping next to it ![]() Forget about all the Michael Schuhmachers and Sebastian Vettels! They would have eaten my dust. I arrive next to the car with a locked rear tyre just in the moment the driver puts camera and tripod in the trunk ![]() Our little conversation Me: "Excuse me Sir, but this is my camera." Him: "No, no! I have seen it first!" What would you have done now? I tried to convince him showing him the tankbag, where another camera was in and that was missing something having exactly the shape of the camera he already had in his car. In the end, he returned the whole gear to me, phew! That was close ... Cheers Dirk |

Make sure you have some pics of yourself and your bike on the memory card so they can't say it's not yours.
If you can get away with resting the camera on a wall or something (instead of using the tripod), then maybe you can disguise the camera somehow? |

Thank you everybody for your helpful comments. I'll do the first pic-trick from now on, too. But I think that will help in the moment you have the camera in your hands to show it to somebody. If the camera remains in a trunk ...
Anyway, great idea! Cheers Dirk |
