Same weekend

The dates change-the days stay the same.

That allows the good citizans of Dawson to keep the virgins indoors, stock the beer shelves, tighten up the slot machines, hire extra bar tenders, assign an extra detail of mounties, and give Dawson Dick a fresh supply of Prozac.

AND.....You get the longest day of the year (usually)

OH Yeah....It's when Fighter has his week vacation.

Road Construction Reminder

Quality Asphalt Paving is currently working on the road from the Jack Wade Junction (Eagle Turnoff) to just over the border... first 3 miles will be under excavation for sure during our run. Eventually, next year this section of highway will be paved! We're losing another beautiful piece of dirt highway people... enjoy it while you can.

Count me in to ride the Dalton after the.... gathering! I'm off work till the 26th. I can't think of anything better to do than ride as far north as possible in an attempt to delay real life. If the weather is terrible, I'll settle for a casual ride of the Denali Highway on the way back to Anchorage.

Good to see you around! By your FB posts I figured you were out of the country living the life.

Just finished my first degree. But I lurk when possible.
I am also finally able to say I can go to D2D. It'll be my last summer in AK for a while though. Glad to see your name on the list.

You'll run into everyone on the road. I went solo my first attendance and AKDuc told me that and sure enough in Tok I joined the herd. There will be groups leaving ANC/Valley that morning....they'll post up their departure times soon.

Tour group cancelled and so a couple of rooms at the Downtown available, no need to walk or ride to the event, just stagger to the bar or sit in the hot tub!

I will probably head out on Wednesday morning.

How does the campground in Tok work? Do you just show up and hope there are spots available? Do they allow you to share?

You can call ahead and reserve a spot, she usually opens up another section for overflow for tents, and yes she will allow people to share.

Also headed out Wednesday AM

I'm also heading out from Anchortown Wednesday AM, but am planning on making it through the border and into Dawson the same day.

For those similarly inclined, remember that the border crossing hours are 8 AM - 8 PM AKDT (9 - 9 YDT) CORRECTION the hours are 8AM - 6PM AKDT. The border is 451 miles from my door and since I apparently won't have Drunk Uncle running cover this year, I'll be leaving early and taking a leisurely pace

BTW, in case you don't make the border in time there is a nice saddle just off the road about 300 yds. short of the border where you can pitch a tent.
