1835 miles would qualify you for the double iron butt sticker. Wow - After almost 1100 miles, I may ass was numb, so I could not imagine riding 1835 miles.

What kind of a seat arrangement did you use for your long trip?

I have tried pretty much most everything on seat arrangements that is out there, such as the beats, air-cushion and sheep skin, but none of them provided the great balance for support and comfort on the standard BMW seat. So with my last 6000 mile trip, I used my sheep skin and put a therma-rest seat underneath the sheep skin that I bought for $21 at REI on sale. This set-up seems to do the trick. I was able to adjust the air-cushion when needed and the sheep skin on top provided the extra cushion.

This is the therma-rest seat:

My current best mileage day has been the 680mi from my home in mid-MI to Rogers, MN via I75, US2, US8. I rode this route in one day out and one day back with a couple of days hanging out with a friend in between. On the way back, I was dealing with 60°f temperatures and according to the radar, around 2"/hr rainfall for most of the trip through the UP and well into the lower peninsula.

Just did 5,700 miles over 7 days (averaging ~ 800 miles a day) in early September which included two transit days from the midwest to the mountains covering over 1000 miles(per day) each way on the interstate. This bike made it easy.

DR 650 1,487 miles in one day

"I take it that was on the DR650? I'd like to know what mods you have done to it that would make it any more comfortable".
Yes, it was the DR650. Only comfort modifications are aftermarket seat, small windshield and 16 tooth front sprocket. After 4 or 5 hours of riding, there was no longer any use for the word "comfort" in describing the remainder of my ride. I was just very commited and focused and willing to endure the situation to buy a couple of extra days of dirt riding.

Dang, 1835 Miles...Thought I was a superhero doing a SS1000 (actually 1032 Mi.) on my '83 Gold Wing earlier this year.

I'll nominate b4thenite, doing 600 miles on a Ducati 848 for an honorable mention (post #13)! I can't imagine it's riding position is much different than the 748 I had and that would have been a rather tiring ride.

I was looking for a destination to do a SS1000 and decided to ride down to fox creek leather in VA and buy a jacket and ride back home to NY. Ended up with 1203 miles and a damn nice jacket.

According to my odometer I did 1842 door to door non-stop. In rain from North Carolina to about Houlton.

On my DL650 so it was fairly easy.

By far the longest distance I have done in one hit.

In September of 2011 I did a 3 corner ride of the UK in 2 days.

Southend to the north and back

I like getting on the bike and disappearing over the horizon.

YMMV

My buddy and I did the TLH loop 3700 miles in 7 days, 1000 miles of it on nasty gravel, construction mess. the rest all B roads. Having done it, I wouldn't do it again in 7 days, I'd stretch it to two weeks and enjoy the local routes @ a more relaxed pace.

You guys are nuts, or I need a more comfortable bike. The longest one day ride I ever did was about 400 miles from my home outside Philadelphia PA to the NC VA border to attend a rally of other Bandit riders. It was boring as hell riding down I81. I'd rather do more miles on twisty backroads, but the only way to get there in time was to super slab it. It seemed to take forever, the worst part was that I ate a pizza, drank a six pack and woke up the next morning to ride home, I didn't even get to enjoy the rally because I had to get home... I should've taken a few days off from work, maybe next time!

Right at 1000 miles, was trying to go to the top of the rockies rally in 04 or 05 with a couple friends. Left Austin early and made it to roswell, nm for lunch. Then I noticed a coolant leak from the water pump on my k1200rs and turned around and headed home. Things were going well, but it got dark about the time I got to brady and Sh 71.

I've never seen so many deer in my life in the miles between brady and llano. I won't ever try that again, there must have been a dozen or so dead, or still moving carcasses in that 50 mile ride. I lost count of the near misses. I finally got in on the tail end of a convoy of a half dozen or so vehicles and let them clear a path. We could only manage 30 mph or so dodging the large rodents. No trouble staying awake though.

Longest in one day? Around 600 miles which I have done several times. No desire to try for an Ironbutt.

Longest overall trip? Around 8500 miles over 27 days on a cross country trip to the BMW MOA National in Redmond, OR. Only about 1000 of which were interstate. We camped the whole way as well. The best bike trip in my life....so far.

Huh... I think my longest day ride was slabbing it from Cookeville, TN, to Granbury, TX, aboard a Superhawk... about 800 miles. (I had slabbed the day before for about 600 miles from home to Cookeville).

Not sure what the longest has been on the CBR... I know I had over 600 miles on it less than 48 hours after purchasing it... Then a week later, rode it the ~300 miles from home to Corolla, NC... and the ~300 miles back a week after that.

Was considering riding it to FL when I go to visit in Dec. That'd be 825 miles on a Fri and back 825 miles the following Tues or Wed. But it'd be slab the whole way so I'll probably just take the cage.
