Erin actually finished 1st in Novice, and Katy 1st in Beginner, so I was wondering if that was perceived as an advantage. Aside form the advantage of riding a bike that weighs 65 lbs., I mean. Next trials I will be better prepared with spare lead-acid batteries, because the loop actually did exhaust the charge on two of the three bikes even with only doing two circuits.
Chris,

It is true that Al and I had not heard of this idea and while I don't have any issues whatsoever with the e-bikes doing three rides in succession, (no question the new trend of e-bikes is bringing new riders back to our lower classes!) I think the debate in our section was that there isn't an actual rule in the rulebook about this (that I know of). I believe our rule is that only Beginner riders, regardless of bike type, can ride the section 3 times in succession and ride one loop. I don't think there is any mention specifically of electric bikes or classes other than Beginner. That is where the confusion came when Erin lined up to ride her 3rd loop right after the 2nd. If the trialsmaster for this event stated it was OK then I would say it was fine and go for it! If this is indeed an issue for the batteries on the e-bikes, then I think it should be brought up to the board and future president and maybe a written rule should be made?

Your kids rode great yesterday!! It is great to see the whole family back out!

I think it was a rule the president made on the go with Hanna. So you are both right. It is something that should be brought up. In the perfect happy world, it seems like a great idea. In a series that you are competing for points, riding three times in a row is an advantage.
It will not be a problem until the ebikes are better than the real thing. Once that happens the ebikes will likely get their own class. Great to see everyone out and having fun. I was scoring the first section the Johnson`s tripled on. Seemed like the right plan up until Chris rode too. I was all for `DAD` to do the same to keep up with the kids!
Just another great event at San Yo!!!

Hmm, I wonder where Ashyton got that stupid sticker.

Could have been the youth trials at Taos. There are many young kids, including the Cannady's kids that earned this. I wish I had more of them. Got to wreck to get one.

Roswell would be a great ride for Deb. If you come ride, you will see a red TY250 in the distance with an A-Team sticker!

zandd just to brag on the trials kids a little, they are some of the most polite, well mannered, and considerate kids i have been aound, and i'm around a LOT of kids (HS teacher). One of my favorite moments yesterday was out checking 8, watching all of thr kids spread out and playing on the rocks on their trials bikes.

A good friend will take you trail riding, an ADV friend will double back and say, "how did you get down there?"

e-bike and three loops

Not to be a Jerk, but in this case I am the voice of dissent. I was surprised to hear that some of the e-bikes were not riding three loops. I have always come to events prepared to have Hunter ride the sections as intended. Given that, we always have had a second set of batteries to swap out. I figured there should be no exceptions give to us just because we chose to come with a bike having a different form of power (ie. not gas powered). I would like to also point out that Hunter rode the intermediate line, all three loops, on one set of lead acid batteries.
