Easy on the F800GS, I believe it's covered in the manual (huh, wassat?)
However, spend a few extra bucks and get a HID setup instead. It'll last longer, look better and help you see. Oh yeah, less energy required so more watts for your heated gear. |

Seriously? How cool is that?! Amazing I love more and more this bike. What does he say?Oh and I think in you bike manual they say something about changing your bulb. It seems quiet simple indeed.

It's a BMW, you should take it to the dealer.
Or you could just twist the cap on the backside of the headlight, unhook the metal clamp, remove the plug, switch the bulb and assemble in reverse order. Maybe 5 minutes if you are clumsy?

I took it to the dealer because I didn't have a spare bulb. 10 minutes, $14 + tax for the bulb, they did it for free on the spot.
FYI the computer shows the warning yellow light and "LAMP". Hard to miss :) Just missed getting it replaced under 6 month warranty on bulbs :) |

That's funny, I just had to replace mine this AM
1 min to remove it and figure out it's a H7 bulb, $9.58 at the auto parts store 45sec to install It is cool that the bike tells you, there's no telling how long before I would realise on my own

Low beam
My low beam went out a couple of weeks ago heading out on an evening ride for a nice dinner. Got the light...auto parts store and five minutes later all is good. It was around 6,800 miles.

Nice things about these is that high-beam and low-beam are the same bulb, and equally as easy to change. So if you're stuck somewhere with a burned-out low-beam, you can swap 'em around temporarily until you find a replacement.

Mine blew after 9356 miles. Is this the expected life for H7 bulbs?

just for grins, i looked at Max BMW's microfiche to see how much an official bulb cost... and it is listed as $20.12.
The thing is you have a lot of choices at the auto store... and yes it is very, very, very easy to change.

That is about what I've been getting. I don't think it's the life of the bulb (they run much longer in my car) so much as the vibrations etc shorten the life.
