Can someone please, PLEASE show me a reliable, sensible, non-psychosis inducing way to change/repair tires trailside at some point during the rally? Probably best done before the beer starts flowing...

Seriously, my love for riding remote areas is gravely threatened by my inability to change a tire without a 6' tire lever or advanced anger management therapies.

I'd really appreciate it. I'll supply the wheel & the beer, but as part of my objective is to learn what tools are preferred by those in the know, I'll be waiting to see what you bring to the schooling.

Thanks anyone.

I'd suggest attending CJ's Pre-KTM event on the 11th and 12th.
I can guarantee there will be dozens of guys who will teach you how to change a tire in exchange for a beer or five.
Me for example!

I'm still planning on starting the Colorado Backcountry Discovery Route from Four Corners on Sept. 7 at the latest with the goal of getting to the campsite in time for CJ's events. Please let me know if anyone else is interested in going with me. Two other KTM riders have expressed interest: http://www.backcountrydiscoveryroutes.com/COBDR

Orangecicle- You might post over here also:

As some of the Southern California riders would be closer to your meet point also.

I'd love to, but I won't be there by then.

Offer still stands, though.

I'll bet Pilsner Urquell goes great with baby powder & Ruglide...

I'll be riding through KC area, prob camping over night somewhere nearby, on Mon the 9th on my way from Columbus. You are welcome to join me if you wish to leave a day earlier... my goal is to be at the campground in Steamboat by dinner Tues the 10th, so as to take advantage of CJ's wrench sessions Wed/Thurs. PM me if you want to meet up!

Man, this is getting close! The one month countdown! I am looking for some travel advice. Does anyone have an estimate for hoe long it will take to ride the TAT through all of NV. and UT.? And then how many days should be allowed for the COBDR from four corners up to Steamboat?

Thanks for any advice.

Tire Change

Guys,

I'll make sure there is a tire changing demo at the event even if I have to do it myself. I'm sure CJ's meet-up will include one as well.

Hey thanks Jimmy! I have had to wrestle a few tires on trailside and suck at it. Appreciate you making this happen.

Hey Bent, check out post 107 and 108 in the ride report titled " XC rider and crew tackle the COBDR and the tat in reverse". Cant wait to charge to the rally.
