New Fueling Issue!

So, I have a new issue with the ol' 800. This has happened a couple of times now, and is different to the old issue (cuts out, but restarts when the fuel is low and the temps are high).

This time, at about 1/4 tank, the bike just stops and won't restart until I put fuel in it. Seems obviously out of fuel, but it still has about a gallon in there. And after adding fuel, it takes about 10 minutes until it will restart.

What the hell is going on here? Right now, I can't ride below 1/2 tank if it's warm out, or 1/4 tank at all. Replaced the fuel control unit last year and it made absolutely no difference at all.

Anyone else suffering this crap? Love this bike, but I'm rapidly losing faith in it's reliability.

'09, 65k miles.

I was having a great ride, before the AAA had to take me home.

A few overgrown spots ... it's in there somewhere

5 years old.... fails to run with low fuel...
If it was MY bike, I would replace the fuel pump and fuel filter.
. with 65,000 miles, I'd replace them even if they were working, preventive maintenance.

Fuel pump gets hot, heats fuel, when things get too hot the pump stops. Fresh cooler fuel, pump cools and away you go. Uh huh. Either filter is plugged causing pump to work overtime or the pump is toast. Don't replace pump without checking filter or as above, change both.

I had the same issue and a new fuel pump solved it. Bought one from Fuel Pump Factory, $40.
