Arizona MC insurance

I find myself about to pull up stakes here in upstate New York (yes!) and head for Northern Arizona. I just got a quote from Progressive for insurance on my two bikes that blew me away. They want to more than double my policy to almost $600 for a 10 year old 640A and a 1945 BSA.

That is just fuckin' stupid...

Anybody want to throw out some good carriers for the Prescott area?

Thx, Chris

That doesn't seem right, I have a '10 990 ADV, '02 650R and and '01 XR 400 and it is about $400 a year in Tucson with Progressive. But then again, you have to check and see what the policy details are.

I've got geico and I insure 3 bikes (liability only) for under $300. Insurance is considerably lower here than in NY. Take that to the bank.

[edit] OK, I dunno wtf I was thinking with that number but I just checked my policy and for the 3 bikes I pay $165/yr. 15/30 on 95 VFR, 01 DRZ400 and 98 ktm380. Which reminds me I've got to drop the 380's insurance.

so yeah, get a quote from someone else.

According to Bankrate, NY is 2nd and AZ 12th for expense of premiums. So, there's a chance at some savings but not too much. In AZ, motorcycle insurance rates factor in the reality that we have year around riding as opposed to back east.

Your best bet is to bundle and shop around. Good luck and welcome to AZ!

I've used this allstate agent for years. if you combine with renters/homeowners policy and auto, the bikes drop quite a bit. I've paid as liitle as $28 year for liability. Your zipcode for home adress will affect yoru rates as well as personal credit.

I have State Farm local office in Havasu for my 08 KTM 450... your quote sounds high but i'm sure it depends on your driving history and coverage.

Add a second "rider" to your policy.

I added my wife to my motorcycle policy, she has no motorcycle license and has never ridden, and my policy dropped by something like $40.

When I first moved to AZ I got a quote from Progressive. They evidently don't want to write motorcycles in this state.

I am with American Family. This is my agent's website: http://insurance-agency.amfam.com/AZ/steve-l-joannes/

Never had any problems with AmFam. Rates are very reasonable.

My old agent's name is John Cole. He was also a good agent but decided to strike out on his own. Here is his info:

Cole Insurance Specialists, Inc

Prescott Valley, AZ 86314

(928)775-0099 Fax

Good luck and welcome to the Free World.
