Fall Colors Mammoth DS Weekend Ride

Left the Bay Area and all it's traffic for a weekend DS ride with JustPaul and Nathan B. Weather was perfect, and dust was low due to previous rain and some snow. Staged out of June Lake and rode the east and west side of 395 for two days.

This is Year 3 of the Fall DS Ride And Shoot.

Day One 93 Miles
Day Two 134 Miles

Elevation - From 6500 to 9900.

It had rained the past few days. 108 was closed but we made it over Tioga.

Tioga

Nathan

JustPaul

Man is 6'4 tall and sleeping like a baby in the back seat in zero zero visibility over Tioga Pass.

Me

The Gang

Fun tracks everywhere you look.

Mammoth Ski Resort in the far distance. Elevation about 8,500

Snow!

Braap

Yippeeee!

The fun is when your track ends and you have to find a way out!

Jack Daniels - Neat please.

Another cool dead end

Go that way....

The terrain is all changing -

Sequence:

Dry lake bed trails are fun to play on

High speed - low dust = lots of fun.

Salty..

One of a few tricky steep hills. The photo does no justice.

Looking back down at me - Ooops the BRP decided to make it's own track.

Smells sooo nice up here

BRP Dash

Above the Owens River Valley

Boundary Peak

Paul and Nate got into some steep, rutted, rocky, shite - Nate blew his chain off the X-Moto and it took a while to get it back on the bike.

It was all good though...

Must....have.....energy....bar......now.

Gas ain't cheap boys

It's worth giving the BRP Premium though....

Silty Rutted hillclimbs are cool

From the top - again no justice on the angle here

Third time was a charm for Mr. Nate.

Tunnel connector - cool!

More snow - just a little dusting.

June Lake

Garmin 450T - Hard to read in the daytime but works great!

Not a breath of wind.

Ride em Cowboy BRP

Nate Rockin the XMoto

Gee Wally - what happened to this pumpkin? Bang.

Always sucks when you have to leave!

All in all this ride was a ton of fun and very diverse. We had 80mph dirt roads, two track, rocks, sand, silt, lake bed, open desert, forested mountains, and more sand.

To and from the Bay Area 6 hours each way and approx $195 in gas for the truck. Well worth it to ride the Eastern Sierras.

Cheers,

Camping? Let's say it's everywhere and you can choose your elevation! Group to Remote - it's all there!
