I would stress the point that that price was for turning up unannounced and wanting to go straight away. The ferry companies also try to skin you in the same circumstances

If you book online in advance it will be a similar price to the ferries - perhaps 15% more, but saves you an hour or more in time and it dumps you 10-15 miles nearer London. The only bad thing there are no seats for moto riders other than the floor, but its only 35 minutes and good to walk about a bit having been on the saddle for nearly 3 days from Moscow.

thanks to all for another great Siberian adventure...I hope to go on one myself someday

meanwhile, a special shout-out to Walter for the recommendation of Jack Weatherford's Genghis Khan and the Making of the Modern World. Just finished it last night...fascinating man and culture.

Now I have an F800GS how on earth did you get the bike on so much water? How did you avoied the water in the air filter?

Great work guys.
The easy part was to get it in there :) This is a stock F800GS and the water intake is pretty high, but this is just as deep as is possible to go with this bike. Luckily it was not 5mm deeper there :)

I'm impressed with the 800 surviving that, i read somewhere you changed the 800 for the 650 after this trip? Your thoughts on the 800 after learning to ride and then doing this trip with it. Did you have the standard seat? Thanks for sharing and stunning pics

Happy birthday TonyP

Thanks for a fantastic combo with Walter and Rod and the Viking Trio

Documentary

I just came from a film "Happy People, a year in the Taiga". Its not a Motorcycle movie but readers of this RR may enjoy it. It follows the life of a trapper for a year. Rod, the dogs have a tough life up there.
