Question Heidenau K60 Scout size on GSW

Hey Inmates,
I have a new pair of Heidenau K60 Scouts that I had on my '12 GSA. Size, Rear 150/70B17, Front 110/80B19. Now I have a '13 GS Water cooled and the tire sizes are a bit wider. However, on the Black Dog Cycle Works website they claim they have "confirmed the fitment" of the 150/17 - 110/19 to work on the new bike, despite being different than the stock size that came on the bike.

Can anyone confirm this? Understanding the limitations of the K60's that is well documented on this website, I'd still like to use them on the new GSW if I can. I look forward to your thoughts and advice.
Thanks.

Why not just call Kurt and ask him yourself to confirm. I doubt he'd put false info out on his website.

TKC front / K60 rear

Based on many people recommending this combo, I have a new set in the garage ready to go on later this week

Replacing Tourances. Been about... oh... 20 years since I've ridden a nobby tire on the road, so I'll be taking it EASY for a few hundred miles, as recommended.

I've had my GS for about 18 months and only been on a few gravel/dirt roads, the Tourances did not inspire confidence (as expected..)... I figure, what's point in having this bike (as opposed to say an RT) if I'm never going to go off road? (not trying to turn this post into a GS vs. RT discussion... I'm just sayin')

Will post impressions over the next few months.

I've tried the TKC rear, it wears out too fast for me. Tried the Kenda Big Block and Mitas E09, both wore too quickly. For as quickly as they all wore out, I didn't feel they were any better on road (maybe even worse with the Kenda) and barely better off road.

I've convinced a number of friends to try this combo too and all of them have liked it as well as I have. No, they're not as good as Tourances, etc. on the street, but they're waaaaay better off road.

I've never tried the K60 front.

Heidenau font= the devil

im sure this has been said already but I HATE HEIDENAU FRONT TIRES. they scream a high pitched (and loud) noise whenever you go above 55. absolutely terrible. the tkc combo is the cats ass

11500 on the rear 8k on the front, live them still got maybe 1k on the rear left and the front maybe half way not sure. Great off road not a tkc but only wished I had a tkc once so far and I just got off the bike and pulled out the log from under neath the rear and kept on going. Will be re-order the rear here shortly. Once they wear in they don't sing as much on the highway and around 8k the rear smooths out around past 80+ mph.

Reluctantly replaced at 14,462 miles. All types of riding, conditions, speeds, weather. ONLY complaint: damn things never held over 30 psi for very long but the old gs didn't seem to mind

The highest mileage I got out of a rear was 5500 .I didn't trust them over 80 mph (went faster than 80 , but always with the thought that they break loose ).

Just installed the K60 on rear and went on a 300 mile ride (30 miles of dirt roads) I was happy with the tire's performance on the street and dirt. Tire is louder at highway speeds than previous Tourances and Anakee 2 but that is to be expected. I'm currently running a Anakee two on the front but will change to a TKC 80 in a few weeks

I've had K60 Scout on the rear and the old K60 on the front of my AT for over a year and used the bike in nearly all weathers and terrain apart from deep mud and think they're a good all round tyre and wear well. It's only now as they rear is wearing down to the last 4-5mm in the cntr that they're best kept on the road or at most on gravel..must say the front looks hardly worn.

ok..

Wet forest tracks..not ok..front doesn'tt track and the rear spins so wouldn't even try going off into the woods.

Would it be a tyre I would buy again ? Yes it would, but as I find myself venturing more off road I've decided to try out these..

Whats left of my Heidis I might try and stud for next years winter.

Can't speak to the whole line, but my experience of a K60 on the front end was that it whined like a spoiled middle-school girl.

Have stuck with a K60 rear and TKC 80 on the front and couldn't be happier.
