Nice GSPD project bike in Atlanta

Craigslist ad says all it needs it a driveshaft. Probably needs more than that but otherwise looks pretty clean.

It ain't going for that... No way we can know what it does go for, but I can't see a busted bike with possible FD issues as well as the driveshaft, going for that.

I'll give him $500 for the tank, though

I don't think 92s came with a red rear fender.

Nice PD But….

broken at 5K?????

Good luck. Now I will say he can get that in parts on ebay, but man as it is,…3500 and thats generous.

The red fender could be the R100 with the PD kit from the dealer? I don't know.

Both fenders are wrong for a GSPD and of course the seat is aftermarket but none of these issues should be a deal breaker and are easily corrected. The tank looks to be from a 90 or 91. The graphics changed in 92 and you can't buy the 90/91 graphics anymore since BMW got into legal trouble for using "Paris-Dakar". I think the engine guards should be red as well but not 100% sure on that. It still has the low engine shield. That's one of the first things to go missing on these bikes.

I see no reason to doubt the driveshaft is the only issue but I would check out the VIN number before buying. I've seen worse PD's for more money.

If it is the usual problem, you often need new bearings in the gear box. It can be very difficult to decide on this since the defective driveshaft can cause a lot of noise. This means at least 1500$ for mechanical repairs, plus battery, plus optical repairs.

Another one bites the dust .

Non original parts, starters been addressed, why is there a volt meter on it ??? Fell on gravel road, battery dead, shot driveshaft and ?????? Local guy here was selling a ride home 89 gs locally, $3800. realistic dollars . I'd bet the current owner of this one bought this out of storage, from orig owner with under 20,000 . That's when many parked them in the day, because of known accepted short comings . Then 30,000 miles later, he's sunk who knows how much in it ? Reality bites, so another 800-1200$ shaft job ain't an option, he puts it on the market . Some nitt witt will buy it and the parts will be on ebay.... wheels $350+ per, tank &1,000+/-, clipless ??? transmission $200, wiring harness if not cooked $$$$ . I sold my last trashed DS to Duncans Beemers for $50.00 . These models were unmovable until the ADV craze hit the MC world this century . For $$$$$$$$$$ reasons todays users are finding out about .

A non running PD with 51K, bad drive shaft (and who knows what else) been down in the gravel with a hole in the luggage...

And he's firm on the price of $5K+.

I don't think this thing is going anywhere very fast. Expect to see this ad over and over and...

Probably doesn't want to sell it anyway. I have used the same ploy with my wife. Kept the RS in the garage for an extra 10 years. Eventually it went when she started to suggest breaking it. By that time my interest had moved onto adventure bikes, so I got it going & sold it.

I tend to agree. Also suspect it's a GS converted to a PD. I wonder if it's got a salvage title too. If it does then he's way overpriced.
