Just went out to check in on my mom and inlaws. Its bad out there. We had no flooding but the wind damage is unreal. Theres trees down on every street. Transformers laying in the street. Shingles and siding in the street. We'll probably out of power for a while.

Power's been out here in Northeastern VT since 4:30 yesterday afternoon. Minimal rain, but high winds took down quite a few trees. Got hit with a flying branch while bringing my son back from school, which smashed the windshield on the van.

People are pretty calm and cheerful. This one wasn't nearly the magnitude of Irene up here. Hopefully, power will be restored soon. It looks like it may be a decent afternoon to take a ride, although the woods and class 4 roads probably have quite a few trees blocking them.

Here I sit at work. Sun shining and 63 degrees. Got here at 6am. Now I wish I took the bike.
Never lost power at home (Winsted) or here at work (Torrington).

There were 3 CL&P cherrypickers stationed in Winsted along with 3 tree crews attacking each power outage as they happened around the outskirts of town.

With the bad press CP&L got last year, guess they don't want to take a chance, especially since it's the one year anniversary.

I read in the NY Times they hired 2000 crews from out of state to be here and stand by.

That is true. My niece's boyfriend is up here, from NC. They were in Folsom, but then got moved to work in NYC.

NW CT: running aux power since 11:00am yesterday. No damage thankfully. Thoughts out to those suffering.

Battery Park City Underpass. Staten Island Ferry Terminal in back. Governors Island Ferry Terminal to the left.

can you spot the top of the submerged dump truck?

apparently go pro hd does not = night vision. the other vids from last night were awesome if you were there and witnessed it. end of west side highway a river. the water rushing down into the Brooklyn/Battery Tunnel was crazy. tip of manhattan was flooded up past the entry of the tunnel. maybe the reason it did not get higher is because the water was escaping through the tunnel.
