Great..someone forgot to anchor that thing down, or take it apart...and now people are probably gonna be out of electric cause of it at some point.

We have commercial umbrellas with rigid tops; we unbolted ours from the posts and brought them indoors (yeah, they're big to store).

Oh yeah, and we have "picnic" tables like the one in the foreground, 'rubber' covered perforated metal surfaces. But our are bolted down to a concrete deck. For the storm, that table ought to be lashed to the guard rail. Flipped over is one thing, tumbling down the road quite another.

blinks

Power has been blinking off/on maybe a dozen times this afternoon/evening. But SO FAR only for seconds at a time.

I finally unplugged my answering and fax machines to save them the reboots. My computer is a desktop but it's on a UPS so it keeps running; I'm online via a cellular modem and that's been up the whole time.

The transformer out back of my girlfriend's house, where I've been hunker down , just flashed for the second time. First time the lights flickered. I may get to fire up the generator after all!

In the owners defense, there was a rather chubby kid jumping on it at the time of lift off. :)

Power went out here about 15 minutes ago. Big transformer explosions in area!!!! Well, buying that super-duper Honda generator, now seems to have been a VERY good idea.

Wonder how much gas I'm going to need.
15 gallons in cans and lots of M/C's with gas in 'em.
Now I just pray no trees come down.

Power went down about 6:30. The sky has been like a light show since. Transformers and lines humming and buzzing away. Just fired the generator. TV, internet, and fridge. Hoping it wont be out for too many days. No rain but the wind is really something. Hopefully only a few more hours of the heavy stuff. They just announced 650k without power on LI.
