Changed oil and tranny (18,000mi service), installed Machineart Moto cylinder head covers (these thing are really nice and cover 80% of your jugs), Touratech fork leg protectors and Wunderlich crashbar bags.

I hope to write a RR soon, maybe this weekend if I find the time...with pictures.

The short story is that it was 30 miles into 1000 miles of dirt. It was one of those long gravel highways. It was rainy and wet. I came over a small hill, was two far too the right, and not yet fully in the gravel/dirt mindset.

I hit the deeper gravel to the outside, and let off the gas... The pig ploughed, and I high-sided.
Amazingly the jesse bag took all the force, and there was barely a scratch on the bike. It still mounted solid (BMW mounts) and closed. It's just deformed.
I sprained my ankle, but not enough to stop riding on it 8 more days.

Baby got new shoes!

Put a new set of Mitas E-07 skins on my bike today. Had a Tourance on the back for 7600 miles and a Shinko on the front for 15700 miles. Shinko could have gone quite a bit more, but I wanted to try a matched set with more of an aggressive tread.

Like the 1/2 inch tread depth on rear

1/4 inch on the front

My high end bead breaker

Installed

^ Agree... and I want to see what the seat looks like as well. I definitely need to do something different for mine but I'm not sure what yet.

About 490 miles:

An electrical glitch erased about 40 miles, and caused a strange max speed indication.

Found it in some back alley warehouse, put it back together, minus the winglets, (missing)' and rode it on the wrong side of the road for 30 miles in heavy traffic.

i shipped My GS Adventure to London last week. I'm from the states. The freight forwarder didn't deliver it to my intended destination hence my searching for it in back alley warehouses. After putting on the parts removed for shipping, sans the winglets. Who the "F" knows what happened here, I rode her back to central London in heavy traffic. You guys who live here and ride......What were you thinking!

...and tomorrow I'm riding her under water. Amazing.... Two months of European touring. Plonker style. Yea.

The Weber State cheerleaders were having a car wash to raise money, and Pig was dirty so I got her a bath.
I'm not a dirty old man. It was for charity. Really.

Swapped in my spare final drive. I noticed my usual 31:11 drive was seeping a tiny bit of oil at the seal last night when I was changing over to my dirt wheels. So the wheel went back on and sure enough, the telltale wobble at 12/6 and 3/9 was just barely there. I rode up to my workspace this morning and re-checked the drive (yup, still ever-so-slightly wobbly and just moist at the seal) before taking it off. The 33:11 I kept from my crashed 1100 went in easy peas and I've got the bearing and a new seal on order.

I'll know if I have to re-shim when I get the bearing off the axle and have the new one on hand to compare it against. The tooth wear on the gears looks good and consistent across the profile, and the drained oil didn't have metal flakes in suspension.

Just under 112k miles, mostly on that original bearing - I'm not unhappy.

Stop thingies

New front pads, flushed the brake lines (easy peezy non-ABS 2005 GS), rode hell out of her in the Northern Arizona dirt all afternoon.

Finished off with some quick mountain road twisties to blow the red dirt off on the way home!
