Fitted a Givi AF330 Airflow screen::

Completely brilliant. Best screen I've ever had on a GS. Virtually no buffeting, very quiet, and can ride around with my visor up without getting insects in my eyes.

Flushed the ABS system for the first time in the 2.5 years I've had the bike. Took two days, Wednesday & yesterday, due to thunderstorms and such. The fluid that came out was the color of fine bourbon.

It was something I'd been meaning to do for a few months. Sunday, my rear brake went all mushy on me, so that bumped this task to the top of the maintenance list.

Being 6' tall certainly helps when doing it solo.

Installed a BMW-AF-XiED

Inline Fuel Mixture control w/AFR Display.

See these links:
http://www.advrider.com/forums/showt...749080&page=17
and
http://sales.nightrider.com/BMW_upgrades.html
I have been running it for 2 days now and so far I am very happy.

Bike: 2000 R1150GS with air intake sensor thermistor added (generic equiv to Ice Air, Recyclizer, etc, etc.)
XiED setting @7
Yellow Cat code plug (30-87)

Have ridden about 200 miles and noted the following:

Improved very smooth throttle response and less harshness.
Surging is gone.
Increased power at top end - easy to bounce off the rev limiter.
Went from 89 octane to 87 - so far no pinging at 80f temps.
Roll on is improved.
Mileage has not really changed. (I have logged every litre)
Engine idles very smooth and does not hunt up and down as it did before.
Plug color is a nice tan - not white as before.
Very easy plug and play installation.
Change the AFR on the fly, very easy all you need is a small screwdriver to tiddle a pot - no flea clip to loose.

My feeling is the bike is happier at 14.1 AFR (instead of 14.7) and the bike is much more pleasant to ride. I will be experimenting with lower ratios in the next few weeks, and going on a long trip. Will report my findings on Rogers thread.

Offroad use only

Added 1/2 quart oil.
My new-to-me '09, at 18,000 miles, is still using oil (I've studied the oil thread a lot ). I'd been checking the oil level on the side-stand, before riding, and she was always completely full. On a whim last night I read the Owner's Manual (BAN HIM!! ) and I was supposed to be putting Pig on the centerstand, and check the level 5 minutes after a long ride.
I did, and the oil barely touched the bottom of the glass, time to add more.

It sounds like ALL Beemers quit using oil eventually, mine's just a "late bloomer", that's okay.

Good report GS Addict!

The BMW-AF-XIED has passed beta on the 1100 and soon will be run on the 1200. The f800 is also passing beta now.

Although nightrider is working to get connectors for the r1100 and r1200, there are Universal cables that can easily be connected to the stock O2 sensor.

Installed Rox Risers. After a little trouble with lack of slack on the brake line, I think I've got them. Now just to dial them in.

nothing too dramatic... got some maintenance done while chilling around the house over the weekend. basically the excuse/reason kept me home and while I didn't rack up very many miles I did browse the internet and relax overall.

valve adjustment
spark plug change
oil change
transmission fluid change
FD fluid change.
quick look see at the rest to make sure things are in order.

the basics. now I need to change the front tire and attach camera mount

really need to do the fuel strip lighter trick also, it's just so easy to hit the trip odometer and roll....

Great idea with the Sugru - I should have thought of that. I have the same setup and have had the ends peel up a bit.

Sunday I rode over to the auto parts store and bought oil, then stopped for fuel and rode home. Then I changed oil and the filter. Tonight I'll give it a bit of a wash.
Still wheelies nicely.

Took an angle grinder to those stupid wind break travel limiters. Ahhh soo much quieter.

Photo's added:
Side view seeing it all the way at the top position, probably gave me an extre 3/4-1" of adjustment.

The after...might finish up and take that chunk of plastic all the way off to look nice but it's not like it's high viz where it's at.
