Yep, thats all it takes. No restistors or anything. The intensity of the led is variable with the speaker volume knob. You just have to get the polarity correct. Hook it up and see if it lights. If not just switch the two wires and it will light up. Slide some 1/8" heat shink tube over the led leads right up to the base of the leds then some 1/4" heat shrink over top of those after its all soldered up. With the velcro you can dial it in to get the best visual angle. I think it maybe cost about a dollar to make,

Cam chain tensioner upgrade - VERY nice, no more clatter... NZ-new 96 1100GS so somehow it's never been shown that kind of love before; I've only had 2 months but even to my ear that seems to have helped drop & smooth the idle.

Valve clearances, braided rear brake line & BMW throttle screw next.

Max
Chch NZ

(Done: iridium plugs, TB balance, fork seals (& oil, one had engine oil in it by the looks!), SLA battery, new paralever bearings / spline lube, heated grips, all oils & filters... coming together now!)

Got a great deal on an unused Pelican 1550 for a top-box from Craigslist.

Gotta do a coupla mods to my custom rear rack to get the right fit. Will post photos when done!

Cheers all!

I bought this sturdy, folding aluminum table at Walmart for about $23:

It's a good size, but the idea was to modify it to fit nicely on top of my Pelican 1550 top box:

Although after the mods it's low, the height will be good for use with a camp chair, and certainly better than placing the kitchen on the ground:

Mission accomplished:

I should add that I included the Pelican case in the photos to show scale, not because I plan on using the table as a suitcase stand.

Cheers, all!

I purchased my plane ticket for my fly-n-ride to North Carolina to pick up my 2012 Triple Black GSA. I fly out on New Year's Eve, first class of course...

I'm so excited to finally make the last of the plans to head out. Now, it is just a waiting game until the 31st!

Here is my plan for the return trip...

I will be staying in Raleigh for a couple of days to prep the bike for the trip. I have to add my farkles and heated gear pigtails. Then, I plan to ride down to Jacksonville, FL and stay overnight. Then, get up the next day and set out on an iron butt ride, the CC50, coast to coast in less than 50 hours. I plan to ride from Jacksonville, FL to San Diego, CA in less than 50 hours. I have completed a SS1K earlier this year and am ready to try the next long distance ride.

I'll have photos and a ride report to post for this ride soon.

Also, I have set aside 20 days late this spring for a round trip ride to the arctic circle in Alaska, from San Clemente. I'm planning to do this solo, but if there are any other So Cal riders who want to make this ride, let me know...

I also ordered the necessary ram mounts needed to mount the farkles I plan to install - Garmin Zumo 665, XM Radio antenna for the 665, Spot Messenger 2, Valentine One radar receiver, 2 GoPro HD cameras, and the Dispatch 1 farkle controller.

I am still deciding which tank bag I want to get, although, for the ride back from NC, I will not need it. I'll probably prep a circuit for tank bag electrification as well.

Nope...I'll be carrying mine IN MY JACKET...along with CELL PHONE...in case I REALLY need them...they'll be immediately accessible.

Do what you want. Just sayin'.

Macadamia..I think you'd be NUTS to mount it. (Sorry, it was just too obvious to avoid)
well, nuts I am... Thanks for the concern... When I ride on the road exclusively, I keep it mounted on the bike. When I'm going to ride off road, it is in my camel bak pack. I know it is safer if I keep it on my person all the time, but I tend to forget to turn it on for my tracking feature when it is not visible all the time.

I'll keep what you said in mind when I am doing my mounting chores.
