I like Doug's oil cooler guard that he posted earlier - especially the trim and the fact he has a gap between the guard and the radiator.
The one I use now is made of a piece of UHMW (heavy duty wear plastic) and uses the top cover mounting screws as a 'swivel point' so I can inspect and clean the radiator if needed. Plus it has a space between the screen and the radiator - so if I have to clean the screen by rubbing it - the debris doesn't get ground into the radiator. That part I like. ![]()

Mounted My New LED Aux Lights
I bought 2 pair of LED auxiliary lights recently, and decided on permanent mounting locations on my Hepco-Becker crashbars. I've got two 20-deg spots to augment my high beams, and two 60-deg floods to use as daytime driving lights. I'll mount the 20s just above the beak and the 60s below and a bit further back.
I picked up some pre-fab mounting tabs at the welding shop, tacked 'em in place: ![]() ![]() Welded 'em up, sprayed 'em satin black temporarily. I've been waiting for my lighting solution before I get the bars powder-coated, which I can now do soon. ![]() Finally, attached everything with some nice looking, stainless allen-head machine screws: ![]() ![]() ![]() Here's a photo of just the spots mounted. ![]() I like the position of them. It was dark by the time I mounted the floods, so no photo yet. I'll include some photos of all four lights mounted along with some illumination output photos. So far, I'm happy with these lights as they are very good quality, were a good deal at $59 per light, and they are very bright. Cheers, all! |

I was thinking about seeing if there was any intrest. Not sure what it would take to offer them up here. Doug I just made one up last night in black. I was going to swap that out on my bike to see how it looks.

Dropped it, that's what I did to my GS today!
Was getting some tight corners in this morning on Mullholand Highway in the Santa Monica Mountains. The BMW tank bag worked its way loos at the steering head clamp (again). Pulled over (on a very slight down hill grade)to re secure it, put my hazards on, the side stand down, got off to attend to the bag and the Triple Black moved forward enough to fall over on its left side.
Lesson learned, put it in first and kill the engine, when on a down hill grade. The AltRider engine guards did their job & took the fall and now have character. |
