After reading the posts on the Stebel Nautilus Compact Air Horn, I'm convinced that this would be the ideal replacement horn. But because of its size & the limited space on the 950, I would love to see some installation photos from those of you who have done the installation.
Also, any modifications to the horn bells or seperation of the horn bells from the compressor to facilitate installation? Thanks!

Imagination
kitjv, you may be right. But each instal will probably be unique considering lights, HB crash bars, high fenders. I suspect imagination will be required.

I did a verbal description of my Stebel horn and HID/fog lamp installation here:
http://www.advrider.com/forums/showp...40&postcount=7 Maybe I should get around to posting pics like I said I would.

Stebel Horn installation on 990 1/2
Got my Stebel Nautilus Compact yesterday, and it took me roughly 5 hours to do it properly:
cable routing: 1,50m of 2,5mē cable needed, be sure to use a silikon protection pipe or similar. take of the right fairing and tank (pipes can stay on, if you prop the tank up). open battery compartment and remove battery. start inserting the cable at the old horn (remove it plus holder), then on the right side of the aluminium support bar, then right frame side, then inside of right frame, follow frame to where the other cables come from. take a left turn towards the battery (still inside frame) until you arrive at the plus pole cable of the battery. this is the place for the fuse (topside of the battery compartment under the aluminium bar. put the relais next to the old horn. Stebel Nautilus: separate the horn from the motor (pry carefully) and cut away those "wings" that wrap around the engine (iron saw will do) robbyrd03 screwed with this post 05-03-2007 at 03:43 AM |

Stebel Nautilus Horn installation 990 2/2
Now for the tricky part: find a hose that will fit on the horn or use a bit from the supplied one), and a piece of pipe for the hole in the motor (i used a cut off ball pen). the (separated) horn will fit below where the old one was (also remove horn holder) if you make it stick out ( approx. 6 cm) at the bottom of the front fairing (the one with the grill) and if you cut out the fairing a little bit, so the fork will not touch the horn on full left turns. Now the horn will face forward and a bit downwards. fix with tie wraps. put the motor above the horn (slide in between aluminium support bar and lamp holder). fix with tie wraps (i drilled a 6mm hole into the aluminium bar for the tie wraps). connect hose and electric relais and now put in the fuse. be sure to use shrink tube on all connections (i did solder all connectors, propably not necessary), and make sure that the fork will not touch any wiring or parts. check if fairing fits (relocate relais if necessary). I didnt put on the supplied original hose, but that should be easy. maybe i will put on some kind of air filter (RC car type). Regards

Could you post photos of this whole set-up? Sounds like what I am trying to do as well.
