GPS + iPhone + Electric Vest on acc socket?

I'm an OC noob. Please don't yell at me.

It appears to be my good fortune to be picking up a damn-near-new 2011 in a week or two from a city 1254 miles north from my warm city. I'm on a schedule- this trip will be the most boring the bike and I will ever have, but my time window is currently very narrow.

I need to run my Zumo+XM, charge my iPhone and possibly use my electric vest, and temperatures will likely plunge to well below my personal level of comfort. Maybe as low as 50 degrees. Trauma, I tell you.

I won't have much time to run wires, install a fuse box, relays, etc.

Can I run all these devices on the single power outlet? I can easily create a small harness in the tank bag to distribute the power to all the devices.

But is there enough magic smoke in that pipe?

Thanks.

The Zumo and iPhone are pretty low draws, about 1A total (500mA for the iPhone - its a USB standard, and 500mA for the Zumo), the vest? I've no idea, that depends on the manufacturer.

Gerbing 4.5 amps

I don't know the rating of the socket.

As long as you're over 7.5A (which is pretty low for a power outlet), you'll be fine. Is there a fuse in the line between the outlet and the battery? That will give you a good idea of what the manufacturer thinks it can handle.

I can now answer my own question.

Yes, the circuit will happily support these devices.

However, the fuse inside the cig lighter plug will NOT. Blew the fuse as soon as I plugged in the electric vest.

Lucky for me, I found a bit of clothes hanger laying on the side of the road, snipped it down to fuse legnth, installed it in place of the fuse, and was good for the rest of the week.
