ADV CRF80 Build
I dig small bikes. I picked up a nice 2005 CRF80 a week ago. In NV, you can plate a dirt bike. That is what I'm going to do with this. The supply chain has already started delivering stuff. Here's what I have so far:
New plastics Pro Taper Honda mini bar ASV red shorty levers (blemished, but I can't find the defect.) Baja Designs DS kit. New stator, headlight, LED turns and brake light. BBR heavier shock spring, rear chain guide and skid plate. FMF Powercore 4 full system. Bridgestone TW 8/9. (installed already) Six Sigma jet kit on the way. OEM cable set EBC brakes I'm a mechanical knucklehead, but I'm going to have a go at doing this myself. I have the Honda shop manual and I can read pretty well. Here comes the photos. The victim. ![]() These things come apart pretty easy! ![]() ![]() The airbox was a mess, but it cleaned up well. With a nice new UNI filter, it's ready to eat dirt. ![]() ![]() I had to go a little narrower on the rear. Tires were a bit hard to source. I'm glad I found a matching set. ![]() ![]() I'll post them up as I get stuff done.

i had a crf50 copy with a 120cc motor set as a motrad was fun on the back road and as it had no lights it was daytime only.
i was thinking of a custom crf150 motard.

I'm in a clean frame of mind
I spent all day today cleaning the frame as best I could. It was pretty dirty. It makes me feel better to start all these mods with a clean frame. I cleaned the wiring harness and squirted everything with contact cleaner and dielectric grease. I pulled the carb and shock off also. I'm well and truly in over my head now. But I think it will be fun.
I cleaned out the steering stem and coated it with CLP, for corrosion protection, of course. My OCD started early. ![]() ![]() You dirty frame! ![]() ![]() Nice and clean. ![]()

Got bored waiting for parts
My kick stand was pretty ratty, and I had a can of Honda Cloud Silver.
So, I cleaned up the kickstand and went to work. ![]() Then, my attention turned to the frame, and a couple of unsightly rub marks. ![]() ![]() I hit a couple other places on the frame and the inside of the swingarm too. I went to HF and got a small furniture mover and a couple more straps, and wound up with this. ![]() I liked it enough, that I'm going to leave it on the wheels.
