Thanks for the reply. I know that's a tough question. It has to be better than my winter in Iowa :( And I'm starting to realize. Asheville stays alot cooler and wet being up in the mountains. We love it there. I hesitate about it just being to much of a tourism center and the hippies eventually just being to much But we would like to be close. The noog. Seems like a great city with towns like Asheville and Nashville being a few hour drives each way

I grew up in Chattanooga and have lived in east TN most of my life.

Winter in Chattanooga is typically either 40 deg and rain or 30 deg and sunny. We don't get much snow, but when it's 40 deg and raining during the day and cools off to 30 overnight, you get ice. It doesn't happen real often, but its nasty when it does.

The summer forecast from about mid May through early October is hot, humid and a change of thunderstorms. Chattanooga summer temps can hover around 100 deg.

Knoxville is basically the same, just 5 deg colder. The mountains do get an appreciable amount of snow. The "far east" up toward Bristol is yet another 5 deg colder.

Having ridden a lot through the mountains in east TN and Western NC, I have concluded that it's always raining somewhere in the mountains.

Of the places you mentioned, you'll find the cost of living lowest in Chattanooga (no TN state income tax or personal property tax) and highest in Asheville.

Open for anyone to have some fried chicken & talk about their trips in the past couple months.

Also ~ ABHulgan & I & Todd are camping this Friday & Saturday (Nov. 1 & 2) night at Tellico, in the North River Campground.
Might see you guys tomorrow night. Also might come by and throw gravels at you Saturday morning. I'll be in the area on Saturday with Boojum. We'll try to stop by and say hi.

We'll be somewhere on North River Road, probably not in the North River Campground, as I'm too cheap to pay for camping. Look for a white Tacoma with a roof-top tent. We may not have motorcycles this weekend.

You girls oughta bring your gear and camp-the rain's gonna be gone Friday morning.

Enjoyed visiting with you guys. Perfect weekend. Today was one of the best Fall rides I've ever had. No traffic anywhere (except the Ocoee Gorge) and great colors everywhere. Some fantastic roads I haven't ridden in a few years. Someday I'll get a Smugmug account so I can share some pictures. Boojum took a bunch. Maybe he'll share.

I'm up for something tomorrow. Anybody have a suggestion? Small bikes or big bikes?

Is that the one with a Subway in it at the intersection of Ooltawah Ringgold Rd or the one at Morris Hill?

The late start time is because the wife has a study session for a 3 day exam next week. It is the BP station with the Subway in it at the intersection. This ride shouldn't be as interesting as the last one, so leave the tow strap and sled dogs at home. The Tiger has a street tire on the rear and a worn out knob on the front. Come on up with the Super10.
