Where? When? Herd the cats. Call the place and time and see who shows up. That's the only way.

Doulos and I played hooky from work and hit Rock Creek and Windy Gap OHV areas near Chattsworth today. Both trails have been recently groomed and were in excellent condition. Some loose rock from the plowing, but tires really hooked up well on the dirt. Lots of high speed riding. Doulos makes that light weight KTM fly over the jumps. My pig (XR650L) is a little more grounded. The D606's stuck pretty good in the loose stuff.

I highly recommend these trails. Rock Creek pretty much parallels Fort Mountain. Very scenic. Windy Gap goes up into the Cohutta Wilderness near Lake Conasuaga. The upper section of Tibbs trail from Lake Conasuaga trail head for about two miles has not been re-groomed. We skipped that section as its so washed out its nearly impossible to traverse.

Get out and enjoy these two OHV areas while they are in such great shape.
(I would not consider these trails big bike friendly) Its all two track, but there is loose rock and the climbs and descents are pretty steep in parts. Any true dual sport, 650 and down, with decent knobbies should have no problem.

Houston Valley/Ringgold trails

Rode over from Chattown to trails. They are in good shape. First dirt taste for the wr250r. She did well. Definitely got upgrade the tires, adjust suspension. Had fun, first time in six months since wreck.

Nice! Everyone's out in this 70 degree weather!

Tn3Sport ~ the last time I attempted Windy Gap it was from the top and golly there were some tight spots. Altho I'm no where near as talented as Doulos is, I think he rode his KLR just as hard as he would that KTM.

Pics?

Doulos has some iphone video he might be able to post.
The Windy Gap trail head at the top has not been improved for about a 2 mile section. We didn't even try that section. It needs quite a bit of work. We came in from CCC Camp Rd trail head and had plenty of good riding on the newly groomed trails. As a matter of fact, there was a mountain biker out there setting a surprisingly good pace.

Given all the recent rain, I'm giving those trails a break for a while. It does have a couple of creek crossings and a section of red clay that is kinda nasty. I need the practice for the upcoming March Moto Madness...

Have never been, but hearing great things about it.

What!? Hell no, that would ruin it! It's supposed to be rough, that's what makes it fun.

Ride in the Cohutta today

The legend Blue Goodson and Billy Coulter called last night - we are meeting at 10:00 for some dual sporting in Cohutta. We will meet at the gas station/store on 411 at entrance to the Cohutta. (Next to little post office and intersection of 2 and 411 I think..

My digits are 423-827-200nine if you want to ride.

If you have never met Blue - he is a character - in his 60's, duck dynasty beard - but can ride like a champ! He will be on a Honda 650, Billy on his Husqavarna 690 and me on my Ktm 350.

Merry Christmas!
