reading the German press release from Speedbrain sounds like Paulo, Jordi and Matt are having electric problems, while Joan crashed and did hurt his wrist. sounds to me the team is trying to keep all 4 in the race but Joan depending on his medical conditions

Yeah, he's still not shown in. He wasn't that far from the fuel stop (turned mechanics bivouac) when his tracking stopped, so I'd say it's a bad sign that we've heard naught up til now.

Still, there's always hope until they appear on the list.

Matt is now listed on the Dakar site as a stater for stage 7 in 145th place.

Stockton is ok and has some decent Dunes,,, BUT,,,, not even a quater the sze of some of the Dakar Dunes And the sand is obviously not even close to the stuff over there either.

Saying that though, Troy has spent many a day up there hammering out the k`s.
GHR Team and the Isuzu Ute team has also used it before, at least I know they did for Jake Smiths training two years ago before Dakar 2011.
It is also used by many Enduro Teams at times and features in tonnes of Youtube clips and ride vids all over thw place

On a sad note ,,, the beach is still closed to access to the public in the Dune areas, has been since about June 2012 and will still be closed for a fair while yet.
I believe a small section that is for some RV use may be open (unless the guys got special permission to train on it)
