Have to agree, the SBS "coverage" has certainly gone to shit this year.

I wouldnt mind so much if i could see it .

Re coverage: i understand they buy a package - sbs dont shoot and edit - they just air it and maybe add the commentary - so good on them for providing it . Shooting a rally like this is a massive effort .

I've recorded and watched every stage (for the last few years). I don't know what you're talking about. The only night there was a break in proceedings was because there was a break in proceedings - the rest day.

The SBS coverage quality has marginally slipped from previous years, but SBS don't have anything to do with that as they simply broadcast the package they bought and it's the same package as bought previously. The Dakar website rankings are always crap every year, that's why we have ADVRider and the F5irehose team over in "Racing"!

This year I've also recorded the Eurosport coverage and I've given up and deleted what I had (which was mostly tennis, basketball, boxing, anything but the Dakar except one episode that went to live Dakar about 2 minutes to the end of the recording).

I'll take a real close look at the Dakar next year and see if the coverage I get behind the handlebars and nav tower is any better. I suspect I'll be wishing I'd stayed at home and watched the SBS coverage.

Cheers
JayBo

Yep. He wa on stage 10 and had electrical problems. There is more on his facebook and on my site too. Basically he got to the bivvy super late, and isn't sure if he'll start today or not.
