I had read that Pruster was going to revert back to his 37:11. For my efforts, the 37:11 will have the gearbox with the higher 5th and an 18 inch rear wheel. The 32:10 mono will run the gearbox with the lower 1st, higher 5th and a 17 inch rear wheel. In my lack of knowledge (and no desire to model it in excel) I'm thinking these two setups will be quite similar in terms of rpm and speed. I don't really want to go lower as the 37:11 will have a 1000cc engine and modded heads messed with by Moorespeed while the 32:10 will be running a r100 full fat engine...I don't really want to be wheeling in third gear off the throttle.

I think that's fairly unlikely, whoever modded your engine!

My engine has the 1000cc powerkit a different cam, ported heads and a Siebenrock exhaust. It has no problems to get the bike going with the 18" wheel. My biggest reason to go back to the 37:11 is to be able to ride real slow without using the clutch.
When I was using the 32:10 I allready had the shorter first gear but for my use it was to tall.
For more road use the 32:10 should be fine.

Yes-BMW! You'll find the 33/12 in Maxes parts site under '77-'84 R100RS.

Well I never! tks wrench.

Trouble is, I need the longer gear set for a monolever drive, nothing listed as far as I can see.
Any clues?

I think the tallest ratio you can get for a mono is the 33:11 off later RS models.

Yes, think that's right, 33/11 is the longest stock ratio for the mono (I've got one), but trying to find out if there are any after market options out there for even longer gearsets..
Think I might be pissing up wind with this one though!

Richie Moore does a +10% gear set (i.e. you need to rebuild your gearbox)... you could try him ... just google moorespeed bmw.

I put a taller 5th in my 33/11 recently.
Indicated speed of 130 kph used to show close to 5000
The same speed now shows close to 4500
