Hey guys, just wondering for those installed.
I'm awaiting my unit to arrive and going over the installation process.

Over on the instruction pics on page 3, slide #4 and #8 show a hole.
Do I need a dremel to cut away at parts of the plastic?

I don't have a dremel, so would a drill bit work?

Haven't taken off the light to have a look at what I'm dealing with yet.

Thanks in advance.

Dave,

I used a dremel tool but there were a few guys who just used a small file. It's not a hole you're making but a small notch. When you see the wire, it should make sense.

Anyone else with some other ideas they used?

I've got a Dremel (actually an air powered tool similar to a Dremel) -- but I chose to use a small file as to have a little more fine control.

A rotary tool with a rasp bit would work, but it can get away from you. I've made previous attempts at shaping plastic and, if you are not careful, the bit can bite and jump on you.

You are trying to make a notch about a 1/4-3/8" wide and a little over 1/8" deep to accomodate the lead going to the light. The lead coming out of the center of the light housing and your notch will be in the center of the top of the light opening.

Ok thanks for the info guys.
So, I just need to make a groove to make way for the cable pass or sit when unit in place.

I have a file, so when I take brake light off, I'll see what needs to be done.
Looking forward to this. ;)

Cheers,
Dave

Kudos and thanks to P3.

I just installed my tail light and it was easy peasy!
The great install instructions helped along the way.

Great kit. Light is bright, easy plug and play.
Filing the arch for wire to sit snug was easy, but I don't think I filed enough and had a gap which I then ran a bead of silicone due to my OCD.

I also dropped the light mount screw into the bottom well. PITA to retrieve, so be careful.

Very impressed and stoked to have it installed.

Cheers,
Dave

Confirmed inmates

OK the order went in. Confirmed buyers are:

Poweranger
OregonTiger
Grover6

It usually takes 2 weeks for me to get all the parts, get them assembled and shipped back out. I'll keep it updated.

Pilot3, HELP!

I'm working on a project bike for the wife. I turned a Honda CRF250L into a Supermoto.

I ordered a nice fender eliminator kit from Yoshimura but the LED tail light did not do it for me. Yes, it looks great at night even on an over cast day but in bright sun light it doesn't have enough fire power.

I was going to try and put a RADIANTZ cluster inside the tail light like I did with my Suzuki DRZ Edge2 light but I couldn't find any that would fit inside. The other problem with the Yoshi light is the lens is glued on. So taking it apart without destroying it could be a problem.

What I was wondering is if you have a selection of housings to choose from? If not that's cool, I will just get the same one you made for the Triumph.

My plan is to order a Radiantz black license plate frame that has LED across the top for tag illumination then mount one of your lights in place of the Yoshi light.

Next I'll have to try and find some good LED turn signals. The ones I purchased had the same problem as the tail light, need more POWER!

Thanks in advance.

Latest UPDATE

OK the first half of the order included the following paid buyers:

Poweranger
OregonTiger
Grover6

I was told lead time on the light heads was 2-2.5 weeks, so I hope to have these shipping out on Monday 6/10.

I PM'd the following inmates with their requested info:

cr9101
meteos (PAID)
Vzuke

If everyone is paid, I will get this half ordered on 5/28 and hope to be shipping that group on Monday 6/17.
