Picture Request

I was hoping someone could take a picture of where the oil lines go into the left side of the engine and post it or otherwise send it to me. I need to see how the top plate that holds the lines in place is situated (it will fit two ways). Hopefully the description makes sense.

Here is the backstory:
I have a new 2012 Adventure R with about 400 miles on it. After about 150 miles an oil leak developed at the front oil line mentioned above. I took it to the dealer, and they replaced the o-rings (they had it a week) on the front oil line where it goes in the left side of the engine. After another 250 miles it was still leaking. I decided to investigate, and found that they had torn one of the o-rings when they replaced them, and I think they put the top plate back on wrong, but not sure because I do not have a service manual to see how the part is supposed to be oriented.

I am currently rebuilding my bike ('07 990 Adventure). I think I understand what you need a photo of and I'll try to take that photos tomorrow. Just to clarify, do you mean the two oil lines at the bottom left side of the engine?

Go back to the dealer and demand your package for the bike. Comes in a nice briefcase type setup with a factory manual in it.

They give out service manuals now? I only got assembly booklets and an owner's manual. I thought the service manual only came as a pdf on a CD.

You only get the "Owner's manual" with the bike and not the service manual.

The service manual can be purchased from many KTM parts dealers including KTMtwins on a DVD, or by asking any of the inmates on here, who might be able to share theirs with you.

I have the owners manual. I am waiting on a repair (service) manual (I ordered one last week). I could go to the dealer and demand one, but I don't think it would get me anywhere.

This one good enough? A bit hard to see, click for bigger picture:

Drain tube

Was taken back when I had a fuel leak that solved itself.

Will look around the pictures a little more and see if I find a better one.

Dirty,

Thanks for the picture, but the wires for the kickstand switch are in the way of what I wanted to look at.

Just on my dinner break. I took a bunch of photos from different angles but I left my camera back in the shop. I'll upload them tonight for you if nobody else does before then.

I made pdfs from my '07 manual, but now I can't figure out how to send them to you. PM me with your email address or other suggestions on how to get them to you.

Printed Parts Book

2012 & after KTM decided not to include the printed parts manual (in our cases an engine & a chassis book) with the customer briefcase

unofficial word was "there is a cost associated with producing & updating these books- and everyone uses the internet now to get their part numbers anyway"

I remember how impressed I was when I discovered that KTM provided such a nice package with each motorcycle purchase- briefcase (used to be purple!), owners manual, parts book(s), and of course the orange ballpoint pen. I take my books with me on long trips, and then there's always putting them on you netpad/notebook/phone/etc

It's snowing here so you'll just have to use this (from another thread) to fit the retainers- they only go one way... items #22 & 23:

#22 is the what I am looking for. It will fit two ways, but only one way is correct.
