I mulled over the TT idea for a while, but since I still have the Genesis, I thought a saloon/estate would be more practical for the time being.

Get yourself a manual to make dam sure you know what your getting your self into. I first TDI belt job I did cost me just under a 1000.00 in special tools because my old tools for the older vws wouldn't fit and the learning curve was not fun ether. The factory manual was not fully informative man the cost just to stay in this biz sometimes is stupid.

I have a bentley manual and a haynes. Audizine Forums have been instrumental so far, to the extent that I feel comfortable doing the 2nd timing belt/water pump change at ~ 150k. (first was at 110k...supposedly)

Do you have VAG-COM? I remember you showing me something the last time I was over, if so, I heard you can turn off "look for brake pad sensors" on the drivers info center?

Yep those are the things you what to find out what you are getting into but I tell you what I love my Bentley manuals but sometimes they don't tell you everything like they should. I do have the vag-com setup but right now my computer that runs it blew up and my Apple can't run it so I have to get a PC lap top just a used one so i can run it again.

You can run a copy of Windows on your mac if you want. One of the programs that will allow you to run it is called Parallels (there are others that do the same trick) and once you've got it loaded you can toss a copy of Windows directly onto your existing OS.

Not hard. I've been doing it for years here in the ofc. Sometimes I think it might be on par with just getting a dedicated beater to run Windows where I have to though and if you get chapped dorking around w/ computers you may not want to dork around w/ Parallels.

How aggressive of a computer do you need? I have a desktop or two laying around that are pentium 4 vintage that I could give you to get you back in the game.

Right along with my PC craping the bed my Apple did too the hard drive locked up so I had it repaired by the mac shop of which the pile shit the bed a week later (the new heard drive) so much for mac quality (it took over a month to get my fine Mac back) the I was going to have them put boot camp on the Apple come to find out the op system i have will not run it so thats out and to pay for Parallels I can get a old laptop for about the same cost of which is what I really need for this vag-com. So Iam looking for a kind-a cheep old laptop (it needs to travel) just to run my vag-com it needs windows 98 to run the setup.
