Price for a 950 engine

What do you guys think a fair price for a working 2005.5 950 engine with 10,000 miles (though that can't be verified) on it would be?

Only includes the starter motor, and then any sensor that's attached to the engine. No carbs, airbox, or exhaust headers.

How can it be fun if there's not at least an outside chance of dying?

Just bought an 04 950A motor out of the UK with 42000km for 675 GBP to replace my motor with the worn CS splines . Cost 325 GBP to get it back to Australia. Motor didn't come with rotor, stator, starter and cover. Didn't mind at the time as I had these parts on the other motor until the rotor bolts worked loose. New (to me) motor ends up costing about $1100 your money.

I know of the motors trading hands for $1500-2500, depending on condition and miles. Some ebay auctions went higher because the wiring harness/throttle bodies or other some such, might have been attached.

edit to add;
I double checked and saw $2500 shipped as the last price I was quoted on a used long block.
