nOObs Rally End of March Madness 2012 Ride Report

Joel AKA h8chains has asked me to start the ride report for this year's nOObs rALLy end of march madness 2012

Due to time constraints I'm starting this thread quite a few days early.

Hello all, before I start doing the dirt report, let me give you a short background on how this event started.

In February of 2007, Tom aka Red_Bull_Addict and I were 4-wheeling in Death Valley, we talked about attending one of the ADV rides. Both of us were totally nOObs and didn’t feel (more like scared) there were rides suitable for peeps of our skill level. I hate to say this, but most nOObs don’t feel welcome in many riding events. And yes, we can be a pain in the ass and will slow down everyone else.

So, in Dec of last year, we had the 1st nOOb valley rALLy ride with the intention of giving all the nOObs the rare opportunity to ride at their comfortable pace, enjoy the beautiful DV National Park, a chance to meet a lot of nice nOObs, and finally a place we call home.

This ride was never meant for nOObs only, the better riders are encourage to come, and in fact their presence challenges us to try the harder trails; instead of just hanging out on the West Side Road the whole weekend!
Besides, we ride a little better when there are baby sitters around.

Death Valley National Park is really an amazing place to visit and at the same time be able to ride your favorite dual sport bike and get to places where most tourist will never see.

Joel puts a lot of heart and hard work into making this a really great ride for nOObs and Non nOObs and we are all grateful


The un-organized and slightly organized group rides will begin on Thursday, March 29th.

Some of the inmates are already on their way to DV. Planning to arrive Tuesday or Wednesday
however the vast majority will arrive Thursday and Friday and stay til Sunday with a few hanging out til Monday
Inmates are on their way south,some all the way from British Columbia, Washington, Northern and Central California and Nevada, some even coming all the way from Texas and a few of the adventurers will be heading North from Southern California and Arizona over the next couple of days - all heading towards the Panamint Springs Resort & Campground in Death Valley California.

A new record of over 160 inmates have signed up & will be gathering for this un-organized non-event.

Thanks again for getting the bike running. It ran great until today when my clutch faded. I should be able to bleed it and be good to go. I can do that when i change the oil.

Thanks a lot to Tim for leading an AWESOME RIDE Saturday! Here are some of my pics.

First we went to Chloride Cliffs. Tim was a little pissed at me for riding so slow and tried to push me over the cliff, but BigTodd came to the rescue and settled Tim down...




Later we went to lunch in Beatty and Rhyolite and on to Titus Canyon. Titus was unbelievable!



BigTOAD stole some kid's bike in Titus and did a sweet jump off a cliff!
