Crossing to Gutamala from Mexico near Palaenque? Has anyone tried El ceibo?

Looking for a good route across near Palenque tomorrow and hitting lots of blocks. Has anyone tried this one recently? Or other advice?

Thanks.

I crossed at frontera corozal a couple years ago. They had a migracion office, but not aduana, so you can't cancel your TVIP and get your deposit back, but if you plan to come back through mexico, that's no big deal. You have to cross in a small boat. I wrote it up a couple months ago here: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showt...hlight=corozal

According to this wikipedia entry, http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/El_Ceibo, it looks like El Ceibo has an aduana so you should be able to get your bike out of Mexico properly and get your TVIP deposit back.

Thanks all. That's brilliant. Decided one more day in Palenque and then across. Exciting!

The border and the road there and out was lovely. One of the fastest roads I have seen for a while. Nothing on my map or goggle maps, but well signed and the local police very happy to tell me the way to go as they shook my hand and wrote down my name in their book at a checkpoint! Left at Palenque at 9.15 and to Flores by 3.30.
