I know I'm a bit late responding to this thread, but here is a picture of a modern Triumph seat a friend modified to fit a SWB /5. The cowl is off a Thruxton, and I like it more than the usual lunch box shaped cowls seen on most cafe'd BMWs. It's lower and just wide enough to cover the shock mounts, best of both worlds!

I need to take a hammer to the seat base. The cut out for the rear mudguard starts a couple of inches too far back and prevents the seat from shutting. It's probably fine with a non standard mudguard so may be ok for my cafe bike. I thought I'd try it on my standard 100/7 first.

I used a stock 1981 R100rt tail and sectioned 8 inches out of the seatpan and tail. If you can weld it is really easy, all you need is a welder, hacksaw and few spare hours. However at 8 inches you will have to relocate 1 seat pivot. You could do less though I wanted the solo look
