Phoenix area DS ride Nov 11

Due to underwhelming response, there is a change in meetup time/place:
New meetup spot
Starbucks at 1939 S. Val Vista, 8:30 am
coffee and snack before leaving.

About 9am, we will ride to the ghost town of SASCO SE of Casa Grande.

This is a big bike friendly ride, all skill levels should be fine. Pace will be casual with no rider left behind.

The route plan is as follows: (sorry, no gps tracks)
Also, since it looks like a small group, 3 so far, we may vary from this route to do some exploring. Just so you know...

Depart Starbucks 9am, take 87 to Florence.
Take Florence Kelvin hwy to Barkerville road. (turns to dirt in here)
South to Willow Springs Road (dirt)
West on Freeman Road to hwy 79 (dirt to hwy)
S. on 79 to Park Link Rd.* (I'd like to try to go around Suizo Mountain, my map shows a road (dirt), but haven't done it before. If that works, would hook up to Park Link (paved) a little later.)
I think last time we took the service road along I10 for a couple miles south to hit exit 226, Sasco road. Turns to dirt again shortly. About 10 miles into the ruin site. We will spend some time looking around the ruin site.

This first leg is in the 100 mile neighborhood I would guess.

From SASCO, depending on time and desire, we may continue SW to go around the Silver Bell mine and end up in Marana. (mostly dirt) Fuel available in Marana, approx 30 miles from SASCO.

From there, time allowing, I'd like to try Owl Head Ranch Road back up to Park Link and then back the way we came. Other option is to blast I10 home.

Should be a fun ride, all big bike friendly and should be good for all skill levels.
Please check back here for updates!

Please post up if intending to join so we can get a head count.

Original post updated to reflect new meet spot and time. This ride is still on if anyone was planning to come along.

So far, I think there are only 3 of us going. Everyone is welcome to join though.

cheers!
Steve

A big thanks to Redline for organizing this ride, I had a great time. First time I had the Uly off the road and the pace really helped me get a feel for what this bike and rider were capable of. Thanks again.
