$10,000 ? 10K ? for THAT ?

I got a brand new Tmax for $5,999 , then a slightly used Burgman 650 for 3K . For both $9,000 and they want that for that ?

As someone else had pointed out in this thread, YOU (and some others) clearly don't fit the demographic who'd buy the 946. To mention your $9000. worth of scooter choices is superfluous and irrelevant however, as the person who wants a 946 is very unlikely to want one of your scooters, if that's what those things are.

It's like saying "You bought a new Mini Cooper?"
I bought a used pickup truck and a mountain bike for that amount.

$9K will also buy you a nice vacation to Australia or 4500 Polish dogs at Costco. So what.

Ford figured out just how well that style thing works in terms of sales. Surely there were some Ward Cleaver types all lathered up when the Edsel was introduced. The 946 looks like the Edsel of Motorscooters.

Absolutely true, and after that mistake Ford came back 5 years later with the Mustang and changed the car industry forever. I guess there are a lot of folks who would be content having manufacturers crank out the same model decade after decade.

I prefer to see some innovation. Not all of it will suit everybody's tastes. So what.

Mmmmm... 4500 Polish dogs. All at once, or can you spread that out over a week or so?

If you're willing to do your own "maintenance" (as in: grilling them yourself) on those dogs, you can save some of that Costco markup!

It's scooters - and in this case, it's a limited edition, boutique-kinda scooter. At that price, you'd wanna consider putting it in the living room with a red velvet rope around it.

High end manufacturers offer limited models, and the rabid-fans buy 'em up. H-D does it, Taylor Guitars does it... it's part of the allure. Most of us wouldn't consider buying it, but it's fun to see... and maybe some of the "artistry and innovation" will trickle down.

Nothing to get all worked up about... except now I'm in the mood for a hotdog.

Cute. No meds here. Normally, I just wouldn't point out the deficiency in someone's post but there was something very non-sequitur about your comments and I felt you must be on the wrong thread.
As I pointed out, we get it, you're not buying a 946. I won't be buying one either, probably.

You're probably a nice guy and if my comments somewhat offended, well... But, I stand behind my comments.

Peace.

There is NOTHING collectible about a T-Max or Burgman thus the ridiculous price. Buy one today and 20 years from now it will bring a mint.

First off I didn't buy my Tmax or my Burg to put in my collection , I bought them to ride , and I'll own them until I ether can't ride any more or I'm dead .

Now as far as buying a bike for my collection , it would never be an over priced special edition 125cc $10,000 scooter . As unique as this particular little scooter is , I remember very well the last time Vespa did a so called "special edition" scooter . It wasn't that long ago 2006 to be exact , if you don't remember it was a 2006 Vespa GT60 . Many people suckers IMO ,
lined up with about $10,000 each for the privilege of owning that so called
"special edition" . Here we are 6 years later and they are on EBay used all the time for about half what those would be collectors paid for them .

Things that become "collector's items" are NEVER special edition items . They have to be unique , rare and never purchased in the first place as a "collector item" . When it comes with a "certificate of authenticity" it will never hit real collector status . IMO these are for the suckers , paying $10,000 for a $4,000 scooter ? Unique as it is @ $10,000 , it's no bargain . To double your money in 20 years you would have to get $20,000 for it . To triple your money $30,000 . FAT CHANCE ?

The only guy who is going to make out on these is named VESPA !

I saw one in the flesh today - don't get too excited I am traveling in Europe.

It is insanely beautiful. Downside? The price.
