The power of the internet- Az 2012
through the power of the internet, I was able to coordinate a couple of different rides in the SouthWest... First we started off in a little riding area near Phoenix called Mesquite Wash. We had taken the truck with bikes in the back, so it wasn't so bad.
crappy picture, but, the first night's dinner of steak on a stick ![]() the terrain was typical southwest... manzanita, mesquite, and assorted other pointy things ready to poke you ![]() and the impressive Saguaro... ![]() impressive if you don't end up hugging one ![]() Impressive spines out there too ![]() sandy washes with whoops ![]() my riding buddy Vic and our Phoenix trail guide AzRich ![]() what I do NOT have pictures of are the ruts... deep ruts dug in to rocks... within the ruts are more ruts where the fork tubes groove out the walls... on TOP of the walls are more ruts where riders drag there feet... this is a scratch on my bike side panel and muffler from the side of the rut ![]() that was end of day one Day two was a 125 dual sport ride to the twon of Punkin Center... started with another sandy wash, then slick fire roads ![]() ![]() Vic and Rich ![]() Some radio tower ![]() Overlooking Roosevelt Lake ![]() We arrive at Punkin Center ![]() ![]() ![]() a town that relishes their uniqueness ![]() ![]() Evidence of a fairly recent fire ![]() Vic finding a cool cave ![]() look closely and you can see the flying mammal ![]() Vic exploring a little side route ![]() Hairy ape just hanging out ![]() Found an old cabin along the way ![]() Rich is not all that tall ![]() Cue up day 3 we head up to Prescott where ADVriderss own Rattlecan offers to lead us around- running a good pace, he ends up a little sideways ![]() at this point, my camera took a dump, but rattlecan (bob) got a few more pictures on his smartphone... including the one that sent him home for the day; bounced off a rock at high speed, and ended up busting up an old tree, a new KTM, and an old wrist

'That's SicVic staightening out my bike after a high speed crash. The trail is about 20 ft. behind where the picture was taken. I guess I hit a rock or something. Don't remember much except seeing that log, still in one piece, coming at me.
