Dischared my pannier in flight today...

... clean separation at 50mph, just heard the thump behind me. Took me a few passes to find it, but when I did was happy to see it didn't take much damage (being practically empty helped I am sure). The corner plastics are a bit scuffed, but this is the worst of it. The rest of the metal is untouched except for a little scuffing on the latches.

My fault completely, didn't tighten the locks down enough, apparently.

wire the nuts

drill a small hole in the nylon lock nuts and run a piece of wire between the two.

Impressive

I'm sure that thing went ass over tea kettle. I wonder how a Happy Trails (or other square corner) box would have held up. Of course for what the Zega's cost you should be able to launch them for sport without any real damage.

I had problems with the nylon nuts staying on. In fact I lost one of the laches when one of the nuts fell off. The replacement latch from Touratech cost me over $30 shipped so enough of that.

I fixed it by replacing the nylon nuts with metal lock nuts. No problems since.

By the way, I love the bags but a little annoyed that I had to buy an expensive replacement part and then fix such an obvious and easily solved problem so that it didn't happen again.

Good thing you didn't do this!!! 542 miles on a Wee w/ 2 Broken Ribs, 25% Collapsed Lung and Broken Metacarpal

Excerpt: " It was then that I recognized the silver metal lid to the Happy Trails Pannier glinting in the sun as it flipped end over end through the air. Disappearing in my mirror back down the highway, I exclaimed "Oh NO!!!". "
