Aside from the pain the worst moment of the highside is when your in the air and you have time to think "This is probably REALLY going to hurt".

Not to hijack too much here.....but, I have no memory from time I put my hands out to over clipons, to when I was on the ground, trying to sit up and take my helmet off, wondering what the heck just happened. Corner worker came over right away and insisted I just lay back and relax till the ambulance came.

I keep lusting after track bikes for sale, a modern 600, howling on the track, or an old TZ250, like I always wanted... but then I realize, I'd ride the damn thing less than I do the other bikes in the garage. Guess I'm done with that, I just want to go riding now.

Supermotos are cheaper, they don't break when you crash them, and they are much easier to push into hero territory than any sportbike I have ridden. YMMV.

I dumped my SV in the corkscrew back in march, my first on-track getoff. My shoulders till hurt, luckily I've moved over to supermoto for track time now so I don't have to sacrifice my body and bike with the higher risk.

At the BeaveRun (now PIRC) Kart track we pay $20 to ride all day. Try that with a sportbike.

The kart track is available most weekdays too. We have ridden all day, unsupervised with just 3 or 4 of us on the track.

Are you riding at Stockton?

Stockton is not open for bikes anymore (new mgmt). Sonoma Raceway kart track(Sears Point) is a much nicer track in every way except $40-$60 for track time.

I only do supermoto and short track/TT now. Way cheaper and I'm having way more fun than big track days.

I'm not sure that it's Nicky's seat that he'd necessarily be taking. This is probably one of the reports that prompted the motogp.com article.

My understanding is that stockton is closed, period. It's been up for sale for two years now. I moved back to Orange County last week, so I'll be riding at Perris and Adams from now on.

I wish you luck, but I've been injured much more often on my SM than on the road course.

Why not, we used to go to IMI Karting track in Colorado and ride all day for pennies on my TLR, just leave it in first and ride except for one place to toss is in second, great practice.. But yes you've got that right, most bang for the buck at a karting track..

Just got back from a race there this weekend! I race minis & our race org (OMRL) added a supermoto class…gotta be the cheapest way to race & get track time there is.

One gentleman on a sumo did highside himself to the moon and into an ambulance though (he's ok) so it isn't without its dangers, like most interesting activities.
