+ Go out as a World Champion, with title #10. I think that's what really keeps him going, though he naturally does not speak about it. His chances to succeed on that one do get slimmer each year, though. JL & DP on the mend, who knows this year could be the best chance he's ever gonna get. Surely it's a mountain to climb.

Didn't all this same hoopla go in this time last year..around contract time? It is like all the news and weather channels trying to be the first to predict the next great winter storm, and then we just get a dusting.

If it's true... what a dummy. I hope he's getting paid a shitton. Maybe he should talk to Dovi and see what he says. Then, do the opposite.

The Beeb is saying that the signing of Pol Espargaro will be announced by Tech 3 shortly thereafter

Has Honda done what Ducati couldn’t in MotoGP?

August 1, 2013 By Kevin Cameron
Interesting piece. Thanks for the link.

Blaming the MotoGP Duc's struggles on the 90-deg V4 arrangement has always made me wonder how Ducati managed to make their Superbike chassis work, given the much longer stroke of a 1200cc twin.

And when Preziosi was questioned about the engine positioning of the MotoGP bike, he claimed they had plenty of room for adjusting the motor further forward if they needed to, but the weight balance was better where it was.

And then ... previous arguments, such as the long piece Kropotkin put together a while ago, focused on the (in)ability of the Duc chassis to heat the front tyre. Rossi's pointing to the barely worked front on the bike he crashed at Laguna Seca suggested the same issue. Plus, the bikes were said to put too much heat into the rear rubber, which went off after a few laps.

But Cameron in this article cites Ducati's MotoGP project boss as blaming the Ducs' race-pace issues on ... wait for it ... heavy steering. The rider works so hard getting the bike into turns that he's worn out by half-distance.

I suppose it could all be true ... except that Stoner, who could make the bikes work, never struck me as likely to outmuscle the rest.

It's (still) a mystery.

I suppose this will benefit Hayden if he is indeed in the running for the Gresini seat as dumping both Bradl and AB would probably be more costly to Honda. I'll be glad to see Bradl keep his LCR ride.

Good financial move for Crutchlow but don't see the sense in it for Ducati as was mentioned. Will CC be faster than Dovi is or Hayden was? Not likely. And maybe someone more keen eyed than myself can chime it but I always felt CC is really working the front end of his bike (conversely it appeared to me Stoner used the rear a lot to put the bike in the place he wanted) and if that's the case the Ducati may be even worse for him.

will be interesting to see how long it takes for Pol Esparago to be at or above Smith's speed.
